We are very excited to add a new teammate to lead a 4th pillar to broaden our capabilities, scope, and impact: a GTM Engineer.

About This Role

We are hiring our first ever GTM Engineer at Primary to join our full time team. The founders we work with have expressed a lot of demand for this capability to get the right systems, data, and workflow foundations in place. Our vision for this role is about 50% rev ops foundations and 50% GTM forward workflows.

You will be the in house expert for both Primary and the founders & operators we work with on all things GTM tech including basic CRM setup, data foundations, key companion tools, workflows and automations, and exploring the world of AI. This role is well-suited for someone with experience both building systems from 0 to 1 and enhancing existing ones for scalability and efficiency.

This role will report to Jason Gelman, our GTM Operating Partner, and work very closely with our high powered Market Development team including Charles, Jess, Jordan, Amber, and Daria

What You’ll Do

In this role, you should expect to work directly with 5 - 15 portfolio companies at a given time doing a mix of hands-on execution, training and coaching, and creating content to help scale your knowledge and impact. Here’s an initial outline of our thinking but we will want you to help refine the scope to maximize the opportunity. 

Systems Foundations:

  • Lead recommendation, selection and implementation of early stage GTM tech stack

  • Lead implementation of key workflows and automations

  • Develop and executive an audit framework for existing GTM foundation setups

  • Create content and training materials for best practices

  • Establish frameworks for proper data structure and ongoing hygiene 

AI Exploration:

  • Lead our exploration and implementation of new AI tools and workflows 

  • Conduct training sessions and live demos for portfolio companies

  • Take regular demos with new vendors to stay on top of market trends and capabilities

Coaching & Education:

  • Educate founders, operators, and Primary team on all aspects of healthy systems and data foundations

  • Coach and teach the basic principles of tool administration

  • Coach and teach key best practices and workflows 

  • Establish a “train the trainer” model for portfolio operators (i.e. Biz Ops, Chief Of Staff, etc.)

Who This Role Is For

This is a unique opportunity to leverage experience from a high performing Revenue Operations, Revenue Systems, or Internal Tools team and bring it in house at a leading Venture Capital firm. 

This will be ideal for somebody who loves tinkering and optimizing in the GTM tech world but is excited for broader exposure to the VC and startup community. 

Here are some additional requirements for this role: 

  • Currently based in the greater New York City area. 

  • Available to work in our office 3-4 days per week (near Madison Square Park). 

  • 4-7 years of experience implementing and owning GTM tech stacks at startups. 

  • Deep fluency with administration of at least some of the following tools: 

    • CRMs: Hubspot or Salesforce

    • Data Providers: ZoomInfo, Clay

    • Sales Acceleration: Gong, Outreach, Salesloft, Apollo, Clari

    • Productivity: Zapier, Notion, Airtable

    • Call Recording tools. 

  • Some experience using basic scripting or programming skills (Python, JavaScript, or similar) to create customer automations and enhance AI integrations.

Compensation & Benefits

The base salary for this role is $140,000 - $155,000 annually (commensurate with experience) and includes upside in Primary’s funds, strong healthcare benefits, and lots of perks associated with working inside a venture capital firm.
