Flourish was founded in 2017 with the goal of helping financial advisors to better secure the financial futures of their clients. We focus on independent Registered Investment Advisers (RIAs), delivering financial products that advisors can’t easily access today through beautiful, scalable, and easy-to-use technology.

About You
You are an engineer, first and foremost. You can rapidly build products that will delight users, with best practices in terms of both development and security. You thrive in a work environment that requires strong problem solving skills and independent self-direction, coupled with an aptitude for team collaboration and open communication. You are a strong communicator, explaining complex technical concepts to designers, support, and other engineers is no problem for you.
You possess strong computer science fundamentals: data structures, algorithms, programming languages, distributed systems, and information retrieval. And finally, your accomplishments are much more important than your paper credentials.
About the Role
Our mission is to provide innovative access to financial products that help RIAs secure their clients’ financial futures and the Flourish Engineers play a key role in doing just that. As the Head of CloudOps, you will be responsible for overseeing high-impact, mission-critical projects end-to-end that will enable us to sail into the next chapters of our cloud-native journey. You will be the primary subject matter expert leading a team of engineers to bring ideas from the whiteboard to reality.
Principal Responsibilities
- Leading a passionate and creative team of engineers in a fast-paced and rapidly evolving environment at the forefront of high-impact, mission-critical projects that will enable us to sail into the next chapters of our cloud-native journey
- Creating and managing project roadmaps, ensuring key deliverables are met, and effectively communicating with key stakeholders
- Designing, developing, integrating, testing, and monitoring all AWS infrastructure following industry best practices and standards in a secure and highly regulated environment
- Engineer self-service and automated solutions to enable application development teams to constantly move faster while ensuring compliance with security standards and requirements
- Provide guidance and support to internal engineering teams in their use of AWS and cloud-native technologies, solutions, and methodologies
- Utilize DevOps principles in your work and drive the adoption of these principles across Flourish
- Oversee design and implementation of a next generation application platform centered around Kubernetes and its ecosystem of software
- Act as a trusted partner for application development teams, advising and supporting their use cloud technologies
- Champion cloud-native best practices and partner with application development teams on their implementation
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
- 7+ years of experience
Preferred Qualifications
- MS or PhD in Computer Science, Math, Physics or Engineering
- Ability to work independently and as part of a fast moving team
- Ready to learn, but just as ready to teach
- Excited to build and launch businesses
- Experience managing an enterprise AWS Organization in a highly regulated environment
- Designing and managing infrastructure in AWS with Terraform or other Infrastructure as Code tools
- Solid understanding of core AWS networking constructs–e.g., Transit Gateway, VPCs, PrivateLink, route tables, NACLs, and security groups
- Strong programming and scripting skills with one or more languages (such as Python, Go, and Bash)
- Experience integrating with and utilizing application metric, logging, and tracing aggregation tools such as, but not limited to, New Relic, Prometheus, OpenTelemetry, Loki, and Grafana for troubleshooting, monitoring, and alerting
- Experience managing a container orchestration platform like Kubernetes in a production environment
- Have a deep understanding of as well as the ability to configure, tune, and troubleshoot Linux operating systems
- Practical working experience with event driven architectures and message buses like Kafka
- Ability to develop event driven automations and/or workflows using AWS Lambda and/or Step Functions
- Experience creating CI/CD pipelines preferably with GitHub Actions
- Understanding of SRE principles, and/or a background in an SRE, operations, or system administrator role is a huge plus

Base Salary Range: $134,800 - $209,700 plus bonus
