Remote | Full-time

Compensation: $110K - $170K

Our client is a high-growth developer infrastructure startup that enables companies to ship software and AI agents directly into their customers' cloud environments, unlocking highly valuable enterprise data. Backed by $5M in seed funding from top-tier venture firms and prominent angel investors from OpenAI, Google, and Databricks, our client is currently operating as a lean, elite team. They are building a modern alternative to traditional infrastructure-as-code platforms, purpose-built for the AI era.

We are seeking a dynamic, resourceful, and highly motivated Head of Community to build our client's developer network from the ground up, spanning both digital platforms and real-world engagements. In this role, the successful candidate will act as the connective tissue in the developer infrastructure ecosystem, orchestrating high-signal meetups and hackathons that resonate deeply with technical builders. This position requires deep developer empathy and strong preexisting connections within the developer tools space, combined with a hands-on execution style to convert community engagement into active sales pipeline.

Key Responsibilities

  • Event Ownership: Plan, manage, and execute developer meetups and hackathons in the San Francisco/Bay Area every two months, managing all logistics end-to-end, including venue sourcing, speaker recruitment, and follow-up.
  • Ecosystem Networking: Recruit high-profile speakers, strategic partners, and co-hosts from the developer infrastructure space to ensure every event provides significant technical value.
  • Digital Community Management: Cultivate, scale, and energize the online community space (Slack) through authentic engagement, avoiding corporate or spammy communication methods.
  • Relationship Architecture: Establish robust relationships across the developer tools ecosystem, keeping the organization closely connected to the core builders, relevant startups, and industry conversations.
  • Pipeline Generation: Strategically transform community activity, event attendance, and digital engagement into actionable leads and customer conversations to accelerate the commercial pipeline.

Requirements
  • Experience: 0 to 5 years of dedicated experience in community building, event management, or field marketing specifically within developer tools, DevOps, or developer infrastructure sectors.
  • Ecosystem Knowledge: Deeply embedded within the developer infrastructure landscape with an existing network of builders, engineers, and companies.
  • Execution Strategy: Proven track record of organizing developer-focused events end-to-end and successfully turning community interest into quantifiable sales pipeline.
  • Operational Mindset: A scrappy, resourceful, and self-directed operator who thrives on hands-on execution rather than large corporate budgets and heavy managerial structures.
  • Location & Travel: Based in the United States with the ability to travel to San Francisco every two months for events (residency in the San Francisco Bay Area is highly preferred).

Benefits
  • Compensation: $110,000 to $170,000 base salary.
  • Equity: Highly competitive early-stage equity package.
  • Work Flexibility: Remote-first operating model within the US.
  • Travel Coverage: Dedicated travel budget provided for regular San Francisco events and meetups.
  • Impact: A unique opportunity to join a foundational team as an early employee, offering substantial ownership and direct collaboration with the founder.

Interview Process

  1. Introductory Consultation: A 30-minute introductory conversation with the Founder/CEO to align on background, core motivations, and cultural synergy.
  2. Collaborative Working Session: A 90-minute practical exercise conducted alongside the Founder/CEO to evaluate communication styles, real-time problem-solving, and mutual working alignment.
  3. Final Review & Offer: Comprehensive alignment check leading to the extension of a formal employment offer.
