About Vega

The $250B insurance claims industry runs on fax machines, phone tag, and adjusters buried in paperwork. Cycle times stretch for months. Data is locked in legacy systems. And the workforce is aging out faster than it's being replaced.

Vega is the premier AI-native claims TPA built to replace that entire stack. Our team is equal parts experienced insurance operators and modern technologists. We care deeply about delivering superior outcomes for our clients, and we want builders that get their hands dirty shipping products that move the needle.

Our results: 10x YoY revenue growth, and on track for $XXM run-rate in under 2 years. Backed by marquee VCs like General Catalyst, Lightspeed, and Valor.

The Role

You'll be Vega's Head of Engineering, reporting directly to the CEO. This is not a "manage managers" role. You'll own the technical vision, write and review code, build AI workflows, and develop the platform that powers every claim we touch. You'll have a real seat at the table — shaping product, strategy, and culture. Based in New York.

What You'll Do

Build the Platform

Own the technical architecture and execution for Vega's AI-native TPA platform. Some foundational systems exist; much of the platform is being built from the ground up. Make day-to-day engineering decisions, write and review code, and ship things yourself. Set the bar for quality, performance, and speed from day one.

Lead with AI

Claims processing is document-heavy, judgment-intensive, and full of repetitive decisions. Think document intake and extraction, automated coverage decisions, reserve estimation, adjuster copilots — you'll figure out where AI creates the most leverage across the claims lifecycle and build it into the product and claims process, not bolt it on afterward.

Stay Close to the Work

You'll sit with adjusters, talk to customers, and understand how claims actually move. Engineering at Vega doesn't build in a vacuum. You'll partner tightly with Product and Claims leadership to solve real problems.

Hire and Raise the Bar

Hire engineers who raise the bar. Build a high-performance culture of speed and accountability, where great people want to do their best work.

What We're Looking For
  • You believe velocity of learning and shipping is of utmost importance

  • You've built something from scratch at early stage and/or high-growth companies

  • You make lean teams punch above their weight. Track record of high leverage, not headcount

  • Genuinely AI-native — you build with AI tools every day, not as a novelty but as a force multiplier

  • Strong engineering foundations: you can architect systems that scale, not just ones that ship fast

  • Strong product instincts and a bias toward understanding the end user firsthand

  • Bias-to-action: you move fast, unblock your team, and aren't afraid to get your hands dirty

  • Nice to have: experience in insurtech, fintech, or vertical AI/SaaS
