About Novellia

Novellia is the only patient-powered real world data platform delivering comprehensive, patient-authorized longitudinal health insights to accelerate biopharma innovation. Unlike traditional RWD providers who provide fragmented institutional data, we empower patients to access 15+ years of their health records for free, then transform these complete health journeys into fit-for-purpose datasets for evidence generation, regulatory submissions, and market access. We're growing 5x YoY with top pharma partners, our data have been published with leading scientific organizations such as ASCO and SABCS/AACR, and are backed by tier-1 investors including Spark Capital, Khosla Ventures, Bling Capital, and more.

The Role

We’re seeking a Head of Finance / Strategic Finance Manager to own financial strategy, planning, and execution at Novellia as we scale from a focused pharma beachhead to the most powerful health data platform across the entire biopharma industry. This is a rare opportunity to define and run the finance function at a high-growth, mission-driven company, partnering directly with the CEO, leadership team, and Board on the most critical decisions we make. Please note that this is an intense, hyper-growth startup environment: expect high standards, long hours including late evenings and weekend work, fast iteration, and urgent, relentless execution.

You'll Be Responsible For:
  • Financial Strategy & Planning: Own the company-wide operating model, long-range planning, and scenario analysis to inform key strategic decisions.

  • Resource Allocation: Partner with leadership to prioritize investments, balance growth with efficiency, and deploy capital for maximum ROI.

  • Investor & Board Reporting: Lead preparation of financial reports, metrics dashboards, and strategic narratives for fundraising and Board meetings.

  • Fundraising Support: Collaborate with the CEO on investor materials, due diligence, and financial storytelling.

  • KPI & Performance Management: Define and track key financial and operational metrics; implement systems to measure, monitor, and improve results.

  • Operational Rigor: Establish scalable budgeting, forecasting, and expense management processes that keep pace with rapid growth.

  • Market & Unit Economics Analysis: Evaluate pricing, margin, and revenue models to optimize profitability and competitive positioning.

What You'll BringRequired Experience:
  • 5–8 years in Strategic Finance, FP&A, Corporate Development, Investment Banking, or Management Consulting.

  • Proven track record building and maintaining dynamic, scalable financial models.

  • Experience partnering with executives and Boards to drive high-stakes decision-making.

  • Strong command of unit economics, SaaS-style business models, or data platform financial frameworks.

  • Excellent communication skills: able to synthesize complex analyses into clear, compelling narratives.

  • Exposure to both early-stage startup dynamics and scaling-company challenges.

Preferred Background:
  • Prior experience in health tech, pharma services, or real-world evidence/data businesses.

Skills & Attributes:
  • Operator Mentality: Thrives in creating processes from scratch and continuously improving them.

  • Analytical Rigor: Highly quantitative, comfortable stress-testing assumptions and challenging conventional wisdom; able to flawlessly manage details without losing sight of the big picture.

  • Executive Presence: Confident in presenting to investors, Boards, and C-suite audiences.

  • Collaborative: Works seamlessly across product, operations, and partnerships to align execution with strategy.

Benefits and perks
  • 140-190k Base Salary

  • Equity in Novellia

  • Medical, dental, and vision coverage

  • 401k

  • Flexible Time off

  • Wellness stipend

  • Up to 12 weeks of parental leave

Don’t meet every single requirement? Studies have shown that women and people of color are less likely to apply to jobs unless they meet every single qualification. At Novellia, we are dedicated to building a diverse, inclusive and authentic workplace, so if you’re excited about this role but your past experience doesn’t align perfectly with every qualification in the job description, we encourage you to apply anyways. You may be just the right candidate for this or other roles.
