Role Overview

The Head of Government Sales will own Daybreak's national public-sector sales strategy, driving growth across federal, state, and local healthcare organizations, government healthcare programs, and strategic public-sector partnerships.

This executive leader will be responsible for expanding Daybreak's reach through Veterans Affairs (VA) facilities, military health systems, Medicaid programs, correctional healthcare organizations, tribal health organizations, public health agencies, and other government healthcare stakeholders.

The ideal candidate is a proven healthcare sales leader with deep experience navigating government procurement environments, healthcare contracting, reimbursement pathways, and public-sector partnerships. This individual will play a critical role in building Daybreak's government business from the ground up and establishing the company as a trusted partner across government healthcare systems.

In this role, you will:

  • Build and lead Daybreak's national government sales function

  • Develop and execute public-sector go-to-market strategies

  • Drive predictable revenue growth through government contracts and strategic partnerships

  • Establish relationships with key decision-makers across federal, state, and local healthcare organizations

  • Lead government procurement efforts, contracting strategies, and market access initiatives

  • Partner closely with Clinical, Marketing, Operations, Customer Experience, and Executive Leadership

This is a hands-on leadership role suited for a builder who thrives in high-growth, mission-driven healthcare environments.

Key Responsibilities

Government Sales Strategy & Execution

  • Develop and execute Daybreak's national government healthcare sales strategy

  • Own revenue forecasting, pipeline management, territory planning, and performance reporting

  • Identify and prioritize high-value government opportunities and contract vehicles

  • Build scalable sales processes, playbooks, and operating rhythms to support growth

  • Lead annual planning and budget development for government sales initiatives

Government & Public Sector Growth

  • Establish and grow relationships with leaders across VA, Department of Defense healthcare systems, Medicaid programs, correctional healthcare organizations, tribal health organizations, and public health agencies

  • Identify, qualify, and pursue federal, state, and local government contracting opportunities

  • Lead responses to RFPs, RFIs, RFQs, and other procurement opportunities

  • Navigate government procurement requirements, compliance standards, and reimbursement pathways

  • Develop strategic partnerships that expand patient access within public-sector healthcare systems

  • Collaborate with policy, reimbursement, and market access stakeholders to drive adoption

Team Building & Leadership

  • Recruit, hire, onboard, and develop high-performing government sales professionals

  • Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, integrity, and execution

  • Conduct regular pipeline reviews, deal coaching, and performance assessments

  • Design compensation and incentive structures aligned with growth objectives

  • Build organizational capabilities to support long-term public-sector expansion

Cross-Functional Leadership

  • Partner with Marketing to increase awareness and engagement within government healthcare channels

  • Collaborate with Clinical and Operations teams to support successful implementation and account growth

  • Work closely with Product and Executive Leadership to incorporate government stakeholder feedback into strategic planning

  • Support reimbursement, policy, and market access initiatives that strengthen Daybreak's position within government healthcare systems

Data, Reporting & Optimization

  • Own CRM accuracy and government sales reporting

  • Monitor pipeline performance, contract opportunities, conversion rates, and revenue forecasts

  • Leverage data to improve sales productivity and forecasting accuracy

  • Present strategic updates, performance metrics, and growth opportunities to executive leadership

Qualifications

Required

  • 10+ years of healthcare sales, government sales, or public-sector business development experience

  • 5+ years leading high-performing sales or business development teams

  • Proven success selling healthcare services, medical devices, healthcare technology, or healthcare solutions into government healthcare organizations

  • Experience navigating government procurement processes, contract vehicles, and public-sector purchasing environments

  • Strong understanding of healthcare reimbursement, compliance, contracting, and regulatory requirements

  • Demonstrated success building and scaling revenue-generating programs in high-growth environments

  • Exceptional communication, negotiation, and executive relationship-building skills

  • Willingness to travel 30–50%

Preferred

  • Existing relationships within VA, Department of Defense healthcare systems, Medicaid programs, correctional healthcare organizations, tribal health organizations, or public health agencies

  • Experience with federal contracting vehicles and government procurement frameworks

  • Experience in sleep medicine, respiratory care, DME, healthcare technology, or digital health

  • Familiarity with value-based care and government reimbursement models

  • Experience with Salesforce, Outreach, HubSpot, or similar sales technology platforms
