The role

We are hiring a Head of Legal to lead the Physitrack Group legal function. You will own legal across the Group, including commercial, corporate, employment, data protection, regulatory, medical device, IP, and disputes, across the UK, EU, United States and beyond. You will lead a small in-house team and run our panel of external counsel.

This is a senior in house role at a genuine inflection point. You will advise the CEO, CFO, COO and the Board on real questions with real consequences, and build the legal foundations for a listed health tech group scaling rapidly into the US.

What you will do
  • Lead and develop the Group legal function, including commercial, corporate, employment, data protection, regulatory, and medical device work.

  • Own US legal exposure, including commercial contracting with US customers (SSAs, BAAs, HIPAA, security questionnaires), medical device regulatory work, US employment matters, and securities exposure (Nasdaq first nord listed, with OTCQX US trading under consideration).

  • Own UK and EU commercial and corporate work, including customer SSAs, DPAs, partner and reseller agreements, M&A support, and corporate governance for Physitrack PLC.

  • Partner with the Quality and Regulatory function on the legal aspects of medical device registration and compliance in the UK, EU, and US.

  • Manage external counsel on cost, quality, and scope across the UK, EU, US and beyond.

  • Support the Board on listed company obligations, including MAR, disclosure, D&O, and shareholder matters.

  • Lead legal response to disputes, regulatory queries, and significant commercial escalations.

  • Ensure proportionate insurance is in place.

  • Line manage our Legal Counsel and the Paralegal who report to you.

  • Improve how the legal function uses AI and workflow tools to move faster with no loss of quality.

What we are looking for
  • UK qualified solicitor with meaningful US training or in house experience. You understand both systems and can move between them.

  • Experience of managing US external legal firms

  • B2B SaaS and medical device (or wider medtech and digital health) experience, ideally both.

    • B2C SaaS experience also welcome

  • Real experience of US commercial contracting, including BAAs, HIPAA, and large customer paper.

  • Inherently curious individual who is tech-positive.

  • Listed company experience, or the confidence to pick it up quickly.

  • Commercial judgement. You frame risk, offer options, and do not just say no.

  • Clear, concise written English and a calm style with senior stakeholders.

  • Discretion and integrity.

  • Data-led.

  • Prior use of AI legal tools such as Harvey, Spellbook, Robin AI, or Lexis+ AI.

  • Candidates are expected to be technically confident and competent, knowing when to utilise tooling v when human overlay is important. "The right tool for the right job" will be second-nature to you

Nice to have
  • US qualification in addition to UK.

  • M&A experience on sell side or buy side.

  • Employment law experience across the UK, EU, and US.
