The Opportunity
As the Head of Lending Product and Pricing, you will develop and lead MassMutual Wealth Management's lending strategy with a particular focus on Securities Backed Lending (SBL). As part of leading this strategy, you will be responsible for Product Development and Management (design, build, launch, and manage) of new lending products by identifying and executing the lending strategy across the business and overall organization. In collaboration with internal and external partners, you will develop, drive and manage new and existing products, which includes ownership of financial results, marketing, communications, training and ensuring strategic alignment with the wider partnerships and goals of MassMutual.
The Team
You will report to the Head of Lending and Banking Services within MassMutual Wealth Management. You will work with lending and cash-focused teammates in the Wealth Management division in addition to partnering with vendors, banks, and enterprise stakeholders supporting the lending product capabilities. The collaborative and dynamic team environment includes members with extensive background and experience in financial products and wealth management.
The Impact
MassMutual's lending product strategy is a key and growing component of the MassMutual Wealth Management business. You will spearhead our efforts to enhance MassMutual's lending offerings and lead high-visibility and high-impact projects to further the development and growth of lending products (such as Securities-back lending, business lending, and student lending), with a primary focus on our new proprietary SBL Program.
Key responsibilities include:
The Head of Lending Product and Pricing will be responsible for identifying and executing the lending strategy across the business and overall organization. This individual must have deep subject matter expertise in various lending products and in-depth knowledge on managing the full product lifecycle including product strategy and development, pricing and profitability, and implementation. This role is also responsible for alignment and integration of Product goals of prudent growth across other functional areas such as operations, systems improvements, and Financial Professional training and adoption.

  • Build strategies and product roadmaps that drive increased revenue growth, creating cost savings, and minimizing risk.
  • Conceptualize and develop new lending product ideas and features which drive revenue while maintaining acceptable portfolio risk.
  • Perform and oversee the forecasting of lending growth and develop policies to set competitive pricing for lending products in various interest rate environments.
  • Design longitudinal tracking of loan balances by type, price, collateral utilization and other metrics to support balance and revenue forecasting
  • Implement marketing strategy focused on increasing interest in and readiness to originate Loan Products with financial professionals enabling growth of the lending portfolio across all lending verticals at the MMWM
  • Identify target client profile and advisor needs and define requirements to enhance client adoption, penetration, and the client and Advisor user experience.
  • Lead product development and support by partnering with stakeholders across the firm to respond to product inquiries resolving issues as they arise.
  • Develop reporting metrics and robust KPI tracking of various lending verticals including but not limited to SBL, Business Lending, Student Lending, and the Advisor Credit Exchange platform.
  • Support compliance of products with all regulatory requirements and implement policies and procedures that ensure prudent risk management for the products.
  • Establish relationships and collaborate with key partners across the organization to ensure that the lending products' value proposition is represented within the organization and advisor channels (i.e., sales teams, marketing, training, field reporting, financial planning, etc.)
  • Frame presentations for senior executive discussions and lead decision-making meetings relative to lending products including pricing management.
  • Awareness and knowledge of competitive product offerings to address gaps in product, pricing and to update product parameters/strategy accordingly


Minimum Qualifications

  • Undergraduate Degree required; master's degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years of lending and credit experience in private bank and/or commercial bank, or wealth management organization
  • Ability to lead, prioritize and execute on multiple priorities and concurrent initiatives across multiple lending verticals within Lending and Banking Services organization
  • Explore multiple solutions to a problem and present and defend solutions based on an analysis of facts and an understanding of both client needs and business needs
  • Identify and communicate requirements across all levels of the organization, comfortable interacting with vendors, business partners, operations and IT
  • Strong quantitative orientation, a high level of intellectual curiosity, tolerance for ambiguity
  • Possess excellent oral and written communication skills and presentation skills
  • Detail oriented with exceptional analytical skills; ability to independently review and challenge recommendations and meet deadlines

  • Experience consulting with all levels of management and working collaboratively with various groups within Wealth Management

  • Collaboration skills and the ability to work in a team-based environment
  • Work and collaborate across multiple products within Lending and Banking Services organization
  • Familiarity with regulatory and compliance requirements for lending products
