Position

MIO’s Portfolio Analytics Group seeks a Head of Manager Selection Analytics to lead a small, high-impact team responsible for advancing MIO’s manager selection and portfolio analytics capabilities. This role sits at the intersection of investments, risk, and technology, driving analytical frameworks, systems, and insights that directly inform portfolio construction and manager evaluation.

The individual will serve as a strategic thought partner to the Head of Portfolio Analytics and senior leadership (CIO, CRO, PMs), while owning the analytics and infrastructure that underpin investment decision-making across internal and external managers. 

The Group

The Portfolio Analytics Group (PAG) provides decision support to the Investment team by (i) maintaining and evolving MIO's manager selection engine and (ii) leveraging data and analytics to create an edge in our investment processes. The group delivers insights that support the CIO and portfolio managers in manager selection decisions.

PAG also serves as the center of excellence for performance and risk reporting for Risk and Advisory. The team owns MIO's attribution system, a critical component in managing investment performance and systemic risks across our portfolio.

Primary responsibilities 

Strategic Investment Partnership

  • Serve as a thought partner for the Investment and Risk teams on portfolio construction and manager selection challenges
  • Develop differentiated and novel investment insights through a deep understanding of the alpha landscape and MIO’s platform
  • Lead and execute bespoke investment analyses to identify alpha opportunities and emerging risks

Manager Selection Analytics & Platform Ownership

  • Lead the development and evolution of MIO’s manager selection analytics ecosystem
  • Bring an investor’s mindset to bridge the gap between PMs, analysts, and developers
  • Partner with the Head of Portfolio Analytics to maintain and enhance our world-class platform for selecting and running a portfolio of external managers
  • Manage and own systems and calculations to produce analytics used in investment decision-making
  • Ensure stakeholder understanding, adoption, and alignment with analytics systems

Analytics & Systems Development

  • Drive the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of investment analytics, models, systems and processes
  • Translate business needs into scalable analytical and system solutions
  • Partner with senior management and Investment and Risk teams to define and deliver enhancements

Ad-hoc Investment Analytics

  • Deliver high-quality, timely analyses to support senior management with investment decision-making
  • Ensure strong conceptual rigor and integrity of analytical frameworks
  • Maintain accuracy of outputs requested by senior management through robust validation, controls, and review processes

Leadership & Team Development

  • Lead, develop, and manage a team of 2-5 people that own investment and manager selection related analytics
  • Set strategic direction, priorities, and standards for the team
  • Run a deliberately developmental team and support that ethos in the broader organization

Desired background

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in finance, computer science, business administration, management information systems, mathematics, engineering, or related field
  • 7+ years in an investment role, with deep expertise in alpha generation and/or manager selection
  • Experience at a top-tier asset management firm, ideally with exposure to multiple asset classes
  • Demonstrated success leading projects and operating in team-based environments
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills applied to investment and economic analysis
  • Exceptional communication skills, with a proven ability to translate complex investment analytics and present clear, actionable insights to senior stakeholders

Certain US states require MIO Partners, Inc. to include a reasonable estimate of the salary range for this role. Actual salaries may vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors, including, but not limited to an individual’s assigned office location, experience, and expertise. Certain roles are also eligible for bonuses, subject to MIO’s discretion and based on factors such as individual and/or organizational performance. Additionally, MIO offers a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental and vision coverage, telemedicine services, life, accident and disability insurance, parental leave and family planning benefits, caregiving resources, a generous retirement program, financial guidance, and paid time off.

Base salary range
$225,000$225,000 USD
