About Outro

Outro Health is the first company dedicated to helping people feel better by using less medication, rather than more.

Our flagship program, Taper Management, is a virtual care program that helps people safely taper off antidepressants and other psychiatric medications. It’s based on hyperbolic tapering, the first neurobiology-based method for stopping psychiatric medications.

We’ve built the best team in the budding field of deprescribing, led by our co-founder Dr. Mark Horowitz—the world-leading expert in the space. Dr. Horowitz literally wrote the textbook on deprescribing, and has helped update national guidelines in several countries.

In our first year in market, we've developed a first-of-its-kind care model, generating meaningful revenue with healthy economics, and even establishing research partnerships with leading health systems and universities. The next phase is about model refinement, patient delight, and scale.

About the Role

You will be our founding marketing hire, with the rare chance to build a function, and a category, from the ground up.

We have strong convictions about our brand, our audience, and what is already working, and we will share all of it on day one. But we are not hiring you to execute our plan. We are hiring you to own and shape the strategy, and to invent the things we have not thought of yet.

The idea that comes to define Outro's marketing probably does not exist yet. The brands that define a category rarely arrive with their signature idea fully formed. Someone builds it from the inside, after they show up. We believe we have the raw materials for something just as category-defining, and we are looking for the person who will help us create it.

What you would be walking into:

  • A founder who quite literally wrote the textbook, and patients who talk about getting their lives back.

  • Real, high-intent demand from people searching for a way off medication they were never told how to stop.

  • An early, engaged community and a brand with strong foundations and taste.

  • A blank canvas for content, story, and community, and the trust to lead it.

This is a full-stack, hands-on role. You will set the strategy and also do the work, especially early, before building out contractors, agencies, and eventually a team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Content and brand. This is the center of gravity. Build a content engine with maximum leverage across formats and platforms, anchored in real storytelling and a clear point of view. Long-form and short-form, written and video. Protect and evolve the brand across every touchpoint.

  • Story and authority. Turn our clinical experts, our patients, and our mission into recognizable voices through video, podcasts, press, and writing. Build earned media and the kind of trust signals that make Outro the name people associate with this movement.

  • Lifecycle. Own email and SMS hands-on early: sequences, segmentation, re-engagement. Bring attribution literacy and clear reporting.

  • Organic and SEO. Build a compounding organic growth strategy and an SEO content program that captures high-intent search and builds lasting authority.

  • Community. Grow Outro's social and community presence into a genuine destination for people exploring a life with less medication, not just an audience.

  • Partnerships and channels. Build relationships with aligned creators, influencers, affiliates, and partners. Oversee integrated execution across email, community, influencer, affiliate, IRL, and PR, including our PR agency and media relationships.

  • Building the function. Hire and manage contractors, agencies, and eventually a small team. Set the bar for speed, ownership, and quality. Partner closely with clinical, product, engineering, and operations.

What Success Looks Like
  • Outro becomes the de facto place people turn to for getting off antidepressants and exploring mental health with less medication.

  • Our experts and patients become recognizable voices across video, podcasts, press, and writing.

  • A compounding organic and SEO engine captures high-intent demand and builds durable authority.

  • Our social and community presence becomes a real destination, not just a follower count.

  • You can show what is working, report it clearly, and use it to sharpen the strategy over time.

Qualifications
  • You have built something from nothing that worked. A brand, an audience, a newsletter, a content channel, a side project. Show us the thing you made, not the years you spent.

  • You can create, not just direct. You write, edit, and shape story yourself, and you brief others well.

  • You are AI-native. You have already reworked how you produce and operate around AI, and your output shows it.

  • You have taste and a point of view. You have opinions, you care, and you want to make a dent.

  • Ownership is your default. You move fast, you finish things, and you do not wait to be told.

  • Your range is broad. You are comfortable across content, brand, social, SEO, community, and lifecycle.

You do not need healthcare or clinical experience. Some of the best people for this role will come from adjacent consumer brands in CPG, wellness, and DTC. If you have built a mission-driven brand that people genuinely trust, we want to talk.

Compensation & Benefits
  • Salary: $150,000 - $225,000, based on experience

  • Early-Stage Equity: 0.5 - 1%

  • Health Insurance: Medical, dental, and vision benefits

  • Time Off: 20 days paid vacation + holidays

Outro is an equal opportunity employer. We celebrate diversity and are committed to creating an inclusive environment for all employees.
