ROLE SUMMARY

Helix is seeking a Vice President, Technical Lead to serve as the in-house technical authority on AI infrastructure across the full stack: electrical, mechanical and rack-level. The role is also the primary technical interface with hyperscaler, chip and supply chain counterparties. Investing in AI infrastructure increasingly requires judgment on questions that are genuinely technical, not just financial. These include power density and cooling architecture choices, rack-level design trends driven by next-generation silicon, and how quickly today's design assumptions will become obsolete. The role must also look forward and advise on where the platform should build, partner or acquire capability, such as supply chain positioning or manufacturing integration. The aim is to compound Helix's advantage rather than simply underwrite today's assets. Its value lies in judgment and external credibility. The successful candidate will be treated as a peer in a hyperscaler's or chip vendor's design review. They will also have the pattern recognition to tell which technical trends are durable and which are faddish. That requires someone who has already operated at a senior level inside a leading technical organization.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Own end-to-end technical diligence on data center investments, from initial screening through to investment committee
  • Assess the technical fit and capability of vendors across the supply chain
  • Evaluate power, cooling and rack-level design assumptions, and how well they will hold up as silicon and workload requirements change
  • Act as the technical counterpart to hyperscaler engineering and design teams, and to chip vendors (NVIDIA, AMD, etc.), on next-generation data center solutions
  • Build and maintain senior relationships across the ecosystem so that Helix has early visibility into design and technology shifts
  • Evaluate and advise on productization and scaling strategy, identifying where supply chain investment or manufacturing integration creates a durable edge
  • Bring product and innovation experience to identify and anticipate new operating models and designs

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Senior design or engineering leadership at a hyperscaler or large-scale data center operator (infrastructure, facilities or systems design organization), or senior technical leadership at a neocloud
  • Demonstrated experience translating technical roadmaps into business and product decisions, not purely an engineering execution background
  • Deep working knowledge of data center electrical and mechanical systems, cooling architecture and rack-level design
  • Credibility with senior technical counterparts, with the ability to engage as a peer in design reviews
  • Strong judgment in separating durable trends from short-lived ones
  • Clear communicator who can explain complex technical trade-offs to investment professionals and decision-makers
  • Collaborative, and comfortable working across investment, operating and external advisory teams

This is the expected annual base salary range for this New York-based position. Actual salaries may vary based on factors, such as skill, experience, and qualification for the role. Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus, based on factors such as individual and team performance.
Base Salary Range
