HR Business Partner

Masonicare Corporate Services - Wallingford, CT

Day Shift / 40hrs/wk

Serves as a Senior Human Resources liaison to leadership, supervisors, and employees at assigned affiliate with regard to human resources issues.  Partners with leaders on strategy, employee relations, and myriad HR initiatives, while practicing fair and ethical human resources activities in alignment with Masonicare's mission, vision and values.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:


  1. Develop collaborative, strategic relationships with designated affiliate Executives and members of the management team. Participate in, and at times lead, initiatives focusing on employee engagement and retention, performance optimization, and organizational change.


  1. Partner with leaders on strategy and organizational planning pertaining to effective and efficient workforce management. Manage the assigned affiliate’s succession planning activities, performance review cycle, and ongoing professional development needs.


  1. Develop initiatives to reduce turnover and improve retention. Advise managers on employee relations concerns and support managers in their efforts to increase employee morale and satisfaction.


  1. Serve as expert on HR policies, assist all employees in interpretation and application of policies, and advise on violations of these policies in an ethical and consistent manner; initiate interactive process to ascertain needs for accommodations to established policies, practices and procedures.


  1. Conduct employee relations investigations and make recommendations as to the outcomes of these investigations. Liaise with outside legal counsel on issues related to employment, complaints, terminations, etc.


  1. Make recommendations to affiliate Executive and management team regarding organizational structure and realignment, talent management, job descriptions, salary changes and promotions.


  1. Drive collaboration and creation of employee performance and/or development plans by identifying training needs for teams and individuals; may be asked to recommend, participate in, or facilitate workshops, in-service sessions, and other training methods with overarching goal of improving teamwork, efficiency and effectiveness, and culture.


  1. Partner with other members of human resources to consistently improve the Masonicare performance evaluation process, succession planning strategies, and overall HR operations; recommend changes to HR policies and procedures to adapt to current and emerging changes amongst the workforce. May initiate training for new or updated HR practices or policies.


  1. Utilize HRIS to review employee data, generate reports, and enter employee transactions; may educate staff on utilizing Employee Self-Service to review and update personal information, view employment-related documentation, and complete assigned tasks.


  1. Completes projects and assignments as well as leads and/or participates in initiatives as requested by the HR manager, VP, Human Resources or affiliate Executive.


  1. Ensure compliance with state and federal labor laws and regulations administered by the EEOC and other federal, state and/or local government agencies.


  1. Review Department of Labor Unemployment Compensation claims, determine appropriate response, and take action, as well as, coordinate responses to unemployment hearings.


  1. Serves as a leadership resource to other members of the HR team.


  1. Other duties as assigned.



Minimum Qualifications:


Education: Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or related field required. 


Experience: Minimum 5 years’ HR generalist experience required. Experience in healthcare strongly preferred.
