 Job Summary     

The HR Generalist provides day-to-day human resources support to assigned employees and managers within the Employee Relations function. The position independently handles routine and moderately complex HR matters involving policy administration, attendance, performance management, corrective action, employee lifecycle support, and employee questions. The HR Generalist is responsible for recognizing employee relations concerns that require formal investigation and promptly escalating those matters to the HR Senior Generalist or HR Manager. The HR Generalist does not independently conduct formal employee investigations.

Job Duties and Responsibilities
  • Serves as a day-to-day HR resource to assigned employees and managers regarding Company policies, attendance, performance expectations, corrective action processes, employee documentation, and routine employment matters.
  • Interprets and applies established HR policies and procedures to routine and moderately complex employee situations, seeking guidance on matters involving elevated risk or uncertainty.
  • Supports managers with performance management, coaching documentation, attendance matters, and corrective action consistent with Company policy and Employee Relations procedures.
  • Prepares, reviews, and processes employee-related documentation, personnel actions, corrective actions, performance documentation, and separation paperwork within established authority.
  • Receives employee concerns and complaints, documents the information received, and promptly escalates matters requiring formal investigation to the HR Senior Generalist or HR Manager.
  • Does not independently conduct formal employee relations investigations or determine investigation findings.
  • Supports approved employee separation and termination processes, including required documentation, HRIS/personnel transactions, final-pay information coordination, and exit processes.
  • Responds to routine unemployment matters and assists with preparation of supporting documentation.
  • Maintains accurate employee records, HRIS information, reports, and required employee relations documentation.
  • Provides employee and manager guidance regarding benefits, leave, payroll, or other HR matters and coordinates with the appropriate specialized HR or Company function when ownership resides outside Employee Relations.
  • Assists with employee and management training related to HR policies, procedures, performance management, and other assigned topics.
  • Identifies recurring employee relations, attendance, performance, or policy issues and communicates trends or concerns to the HR Senior Generalist or HR Manager.
  • Partners with the HR Associate on transactional and administrative HR activities and provides guidance on established processes.
  • Maintains current knowledge of Company policies and applicable employment requirements relevant to assigned responsibilities.
  • Performs other HR-related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education and Experience
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Associate or bachelor's degree in human resources, business administration, or a related field preferred.
  • HR certification preferred but not required.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of progressive human resources experience preferred, with experience supporting employee relations, policy administration, performance management, or related HR functions.
  • Equivalent combinations of relevant education and experience may be considered.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Working knowledge of human resources principles, employee relations practices, and employment-related policies.
  • Working knowledge of applicable federal and state employment requirements, including FLSA, FMLA, ADA, EEO, and related employment practices.
  • Ability to apply established policies consistently and recognize matters requiring escalation.
  • Sound judgment and ability to independently handle routine and moderately complex HR matters within established authority.
  • Effective professional written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organizational skills, documentation practices, and attention to detail.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with employees and managers at varying levels of the organization.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and appropriately handle sensitive employee information.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Working knowledge of HRIS, Microsoft Office, and standard business systems.
  • Ability to successfully complete required pre-employment screening and travel as required.
Clearance

As a federal contractor, this position requires U.S. citizenship and security clearance granting access to classified information. The background investigation is conducted by the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) and is an evaluation of the whole person to determine suitability. The suitability review begins after a conditional offer of employment has been accepted and will include a review of your employment, education, residences, references, criminal history and credit, as an example.  Some of the most important factors in an investigation are the individual’s honesty, candor, and thoroughness in the completion of their security forms. In rare instances, non-U.S. citizens with highly specialized skills and experience may also be considered for the security clearance process.

This includes locking your session and putting sensitive paperwork away when not physically at your desk.  You are not to share your username or password with anyone. The physical security of our offices of are equal importance, never shadow or let someone shadow your entry into a Coast Professional, Inc. facility. If this occurs quickly report this action immediately.  You are required to follow all Information Technology policies and procedures regarding the management of your system accounts and equipment. If you witness any security violation you should immediately report it to management.

Work may require frequent weekend and evening work. This position has travel requirements and may require overnight travel.

Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus. The employee frequently is required to use hands or finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
