As a Payroll Specialist, you will support the Finance team and Transfix’s growing employee base. You will be responsible for accurately processing our regular payroll cycles, and assist the accounting team to reconcile bank accounts, vendor transactions, and tax remittances.

Note: This role is expected to work approximately 20 hours/week.

What You'll Do:

• Own end-to-end payroll process
• Add new employees from HR platform to Payroll platform
• Process semi-monthly payroll and coordinate with the People team to ensure all updates are accurately reflected
• Report monthly wages to Department of Labor
• Manage payroll accounting and compliance obligations
• Manage approval process from managers for timesheet submissions
• Remain in compliance with all legal and institutional requirements at all times
• Familiarize yourself and keep current with the taxation of salaries, benefits and other factors
• Process and monitor garnishment orders and other issues that impact payroll specification
• Serve as the main point of contact for employee pay-related questions
• Partner with People/HR Team on compensation changes, deductions, bonus and commission payments, vacation payouts, and benefits for employees
• Report to Finance team to ensure alignment on employee data
• Partner with Namely to ensure and provide all the information necessary for state quarterly withholding

About You:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
• 3+ years experience with full-cycle payroll
• Experience processing payroll for 150+ employees in a multi-state environment
• Experience with payroll software (Namely preferred) and 401K contributions (Betterment preferred)
• Ability to work with and keep sensitive and confidential employee information private
• Experience managing SUI and SIT taxes and garnishments 
• Advanced excel skills
• Motivated, self-starter who enjoys working in a team-oriented fast-paced environment
• Strong communication, detail orientation, interpersonal and analytical skills
• Able to multi-task and meet multiple deadlines
• Proactive about raising issues and sharing ideas
