About Spruce

Spruce is the platform enabling modern real estate transactions. We work with forward thinking mortgage lenders, real estate companies and investors, and we believe the future of real estate will be driven by automation, efficiency and digital experiences, and we provide the products and services necessary to make that happen.

Spruce is looking for a Talent Leader to join its growing People Operations team, reporting to the VP of People Operations. The ideal candidate will have the skills and experience to build a world-class candidate experience and rapidly scale our organization.

You’ve worked in a high-growth business before and you’re comfortable meeting ambitious targets with scalable systems and bringing critical roles in for a landing. You’ll lead, grow, and develop Recruiters, manage Spruce’s recruiting budget, and grow our employer brand. Your work will ensure that we attract the most qualified candidates we can, screen them fairly and efficiently, and build a diverse, high-performing team.

What you'll do

  • Grow and develop a lean team of Recruiters to meet Spruce’s hiring needs in a sustainable, strategic way, now and in the future
  • Build an accurate, compelling employer brand for Spruce within and beyond our industry
  • Refine and execute on a strategy that emphasizes inbound funnel and sourcing
  • Define and deliver on a best-in-class candidate experience in line with Spruce’s values as a business and our People Ops objectives
  • Maintain healthy relationships with external partners and make strategic choices about how best to deliver on recruiting outcomes
  • Deliver on ambitious hiring goals, own pipeline and diversity metrics, and represent the health of the recruiting function to internal audiences
  • Get into the details to help your team deliver: close key roles, source, network, and get things done.

What we're looking for

  • Experience recruiting in a hybrid or remote-first workplace; preferably a fast-paced or startup environment
  • High degree of proficiency in national best practices, including CA and NY
  • Successful experience building employer brand; preferably at a smaller business
  • Management experience with a track record of rewarding reporting relationships, employee growth, and mentorship
  • Successful experience as an operator (in or out of People Ops) -- You get things done with consistent, lean process; and you respond to each person’s unique needs and comfort
  • A history of rewarding, high-trust team relationships and the desire to work with a kind, diverse, and effective team to move mountains

We are proud of the team we’re building. We're committed to equal opportunity employment -- and beyond. We believe diverse experiences and perspectives build a stronger team and a better product. We welcome fresh perspectives and challenge our own assumptions to make Spruce better. The more inclusive we are as a company, the better we can serve our customers.
