Your team:

The People & Talent team live at the center of Ribbon’s culture. We have the unique opportunity to recruit, excite, and celebrate amazing people from all walks of life. This role is a great opportunity for someone who has a passion for technical talent acquisition and wants to be challenged in a hyper-growth environment. 

How you'll help make homeownership achievable:

The VP of People is a critical leadership role for Ribbon at a time of significant growth for the company with a path to going public in the future. You will be a strategic business partner that will guide Ribbon through the complex issues of a rapidly growing company and develop the People and Talent strategy, structures, processes and programs to cultivate and optimize this growth. Success in this role requires strong business acumen, strong leadership and management skills, progressive thinking, passion for building an inclusive and high-performance culture and a people first approach.

What we're looking for:

  • Proven and trusted business partner and leader. Partnered with leadership to understand short and long-term business goals and has built a People and Talent strategy that align and support these priorities.
  • Experience scaling and leading a best-in-class People & Talent team at a growth-stage, high tech company, scaled from ~150 up to ~500 employees, ideally up to 1,000 employees. Distributed team experience is a bonus.
  • Seasoned knowledge and experience in the various People and Talent functional areas: company culture, attracting the very best talent, DEI, onboarding, talent management, performance management, learning & development, employee engagement, retention, total rewards and people operations
  • Established company wide Diversity, Equity and Inclusion goals and diversity metrics that have been incorporated into performance, compensation and retention. Has previously developed and scaled DEI strategies and programs that have created inclusiveness and growth within an organization.
  • 10+ years of HR/People Operations experience or total combined professional work experience (e.g. Business Operations).
  • 6+ years management experience hiring, coaching, mentoring and developing a high performing People and Talent organization.

  • Strategic and hands on: Able to comfortably move between strategic business partner and day-to-day HR operations - willingness to be a “player-coach” type leader and “roll-up the sleeves” to get things done.
  • Expert in scaling: You anticipate the challenges and the natural growing pains that come hand in hand with a rapidly growing company. You have a track history of successfully building for scale and simultaneously maintaining a thriving company culture and strong employee experience.

Business Partner 

  • Serve as a business partner to leadership. Holistic understanding of the business and associated challenges to drive positive impact and value across the organization.  
  • Encourage and challenge senior leaders to think strategically about organizational growth and its impact on their approach to organizational design, employee engagement and retention, competency models, leadership development, performance criteria and measurement, succession planning, talent reviews and change management.

Scaling through High Growth

  • Scaling culture and DEI. You will be Ribbon’s internal champion for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, continuing to advance this work across our organization as we grow and aligning People practices to drive attraction, engagement and retention. 
  • Proven ability to drive toward a culture of high performance and accountability, while nurturing Ribbon’s culture, values and overall mission and vision.
  • Ensure Ribbon has the appropriate systems, tools and processes to enable the organization to successfully scale. 

Build and Lead a High Performing People & Talent Team

  • Continue to build, lead and develop the People and Talent team as a partner and subject matter expert to ensure alignment with the company and evolving business challenges.
  • Mentor, develop, coach and evaluate the performance of your team members.
  • Provide your team with clear, meaningful direction and motivation towards objectives, as well as the necessary resources to be successful.
  • Model and inspire high team performance and accountability.

Performance Management 

  • Build a common language around performance and performance management. 
  • Drive a culture of high performance and accountability across the organization. 
  • Develop a performance management strategy and process that gives Ribbon’s team members unparalleled potential for growth.

Learning and Development

  • Develop scalable learning and development experiences for employees at every level, with the goal of growing capabilities, knowledge, and up leveling leadership and management skills.
  • Provide coaching and feedback to our existing leadership team and develop programs that prepare high potential team members for people/functional management and leadership. 
  • Deliver, create and deliver learning tools and resources as sources of knowledge and development opportunities across the organization.

The annual base salary range for this role is $312,000 - $352,000.
