Role overview

Analyst level role with the Cboe Global Indices (CGI) team.  The team currently researches, designs, and implements new index strategies on behalf of Cboe Global Indices and CGI’s clients.  This role includes backtesting and analysis of new derivative strategies, as well as developing methodologies for new index products.  This role will provide exposure to derivatives and equities.

Location: Selected candidate must be willing to work a hybrid schedule in our Chicago or NYC office.

Your responsibilities will be:

  • Backtesting and methodology creation to support new index strategies

  • Research, create and support the index development initiatives for Cboe Global Indices with a focus on equities and options

  • Help build and standardize modular index calculation frameworks in Python, enabling efficient development and maintenance of new and existing indicesEvaluate new data sets for usage in index calculation, looking at data quality, completeness, and fit for index purposes

  • Participate in client meetings to develop new index concepts, providing direction and analysis to convert client ideas into viable index methodologies

  • Work collaboratively with other Cboe departments on new index launches, as well as post-launch support

The ideal candidate has:

  • Minimum of 2 years of related experience with a bachelor's degree in Engineering, Mathematics, Computer Science or related field required.  Advanced degree preferred.

  • Strong quantitative and programming skills; experience in Python, R and SQL with preference to Python

  • Experience with written documentation of projects

  • Experience using Git or other version control software

  • Familiarity with options pricing, volatility surfaces, or derivatives markets

  • Strong problem solving skills

  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills

  • Self-starter with the ability to manage multiple projects independently and collaboratively

  • Exposure to writing APIs to access various databases

  • Exposure to index construction, factor investing, or systematic strategy research

Our pay ranges are determined by a number of factors, including, but not limited to, role, experience, level, and location. The national new hire base pay range for this job in the United States is $89,250-$110,250. This range represents the minimum and maximum base pay the company expects to offer for new hires working in the position full time. If you live in one of the following areas or if you work in a Cboe office in the following areas, the range may be higher according to the geographic differentials listed below:

US Geographic Differentials:

  • 110%: Austin TX, Chicago IL, Denver CO, San Diego CA 

  • 115%: Los Angeles CA, Seattle WA 

  • 120%: Boston MA, Washington DC 

  • 125%: New York City NY  

  • 130%: San Francisco CA 


Within the range, individual pay is determined by a number of factors, including, but not limited to, work location, job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
