The Weitzman Education Instructional Design Specialist will work closely with the Weitzman Institute Education core team and is responsible for the instructional design activities of Weitzman Institute education interventions. Weitzman Education has three core areas of focus – health professions training, continuing education, and system transformation. Education interventions include Weitzman ECHO, learning collaboratives, webinars, enduring materials, podcasts, technical assistance, consultation, and other innovative interventions.
The Weitzman Education Instructional Design Specialist is a key member of various education teams responsible for needs analysis, development, design, implementation and evaluation of educational interventions for primary care providers, residents, care team staff, and clinical, operational, and executive leaders in primary care and other health care organizations. Specific responsibilities include instructional design support for a variety of educational interventions in various stages of planning, implementation, and evaluation; work with faculty and education staff to develop and enhance didactics and other educational materials; engagement with participants involved in the various interventions to build and maintain learning communities; tracking and monitoring of operational data including reports for continual improvement of education interventions; and software use for managing educational activities for learners, organizations, faculty, and supportive learning materials, such as case presentations, video recordings, and other live and asynchronous materials.
ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Demonstrated expertise in developing instructional resources.
- Uses Instructional Systems Design (ISD) principles (ADDIE model), adult learning principles, and innovation strategies to plan the analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation for virtual and multimedia education programs for a variety of health professions serving vulnerable and underserved populations.
- Provides evaluation of curriculum documents and instructional delivery procedures.
- Guides faculty in the application of effective teaching and assessment strategies in a web-based learning environment.
- Designs and develops instructional web pages, online courses, and learning materials with the focus on usability.
- Is proficient with Learning Management Systems
- Is proficient with Microsoft Office products, standard web technologies, languages and authoring tools, and graphic/multimedia development tools.
- Applies thorough knowledge and experience in instructional design and adult learning theories.
- Uses strong interpersonal and project management skills in order to motivate and encourage faculty to try new and different learning styles.
- Builds templates and supports faculty and Education team in the creation and design of virtual instruction for health professionals.
- Integrates technology in traditional courses and provides instructional technology support.
- Tracks trends in educational and instructional technology.
- Introduces and implements emerging educational technologies while assisting faculty and program planning team with development, assessment and evaluation of learning activities.
- Assists with meeting accreditation standards and reporting.
- Provides coaching and mentoring to other team personnel to ensure timely design and development of instructional materials.
- Establishes and/or reviews course content and objectives.
- May provide team leadership, including evaluating the effectiveness of training presentations and programs.
- Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s Degree in Instructional Design or related field; Master’s degree in Instructional Design preferred. At least two years of instructional design experience.
- Must have proven experience using Instructional Systems Design (ISD) principles to plan the analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation for multimedia and traditional training systems developed for adult education programs, preferably in health care or for health professionals.
- Experience with virtual education programs preferred, including live and asynchronous programs.
- Experience with continuing medical education or health professions preferred.
- Must have experience in providing evaluation of curriculum documents and instructional delivery procedures.

Excellent oral and written skills are required. This position is highly involved with staff, faculty, providers, clients, colleagues, outside vendors, and community.
Required Licenses/Certifications
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT
This is a fully remote position. Occasional travel to the headquarters in Connecticut may occur at a later date pending COVID safety protocols.
Flexible, full time at 40 hours per week.
This Position is available for remote work.
