Job Summary

The Integrated Strategy Supervisor is a central facet within the combined Brand-Digital Integrated Strategy team. Working under the guidance of the Integrated Brand Group Director and/or Associate Director, ISS constructs the strategic foundation for media plan development and ensures consistency across all channels. As a key agency contact, he/she/they maintain strong relationships with clients, partner agencies, media vendors and internal departments. The ISS applies his/her/their knowledge of industry trends and Horizon’s consumer/channel insight resources to offer the clients fresh thinking. He/she/They supervises all team projects, ensuring they are completed accurately and on time and reflect both practical and strategic thinking. They will work closely with their team to develop cross-channel strategies, and recommend/activate digital media plans that meet campaign imperatives and client objectives. 

The ISS is a crucial position which requires an individual to work well within a team and be prepared for a fast-paced and detail-oriented environment. This individual is expected to show resourcefulness, exhibit accountability, work independently and demonstrate initiative.

30% Client Relations

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients and partner agencies at appropriate level, by serving as the key agency contact

  • Guide the team in translating client goals into full funnel strategic media solutions that grow our client’s brands, and ensure strategic consistency across all elements of plan development and implementation

  • Lead research initiatives, identifying tools and resources that will aid in the consumer insight gathering and strategic planning process, including new trends and opportunities within the industry; develop POVs to share with clients and media team

  • Share evolving media trends and opportunities with peers and clients, ensuring recommendations look to incorporate both existing media as well as emerging creative communication channels

25% Leader campaign planning and execution

  • Work with teams to develop articulate media strategies and recommendations that hit on key client objectives

  • Participate in overall client media strategy development in order to deeply understand the role paid media plays in larger business objectives across various stages of the consumer funnel

  • Work independently to plan key account(s) as necessary

  • Seek growth opportunities for clients

  • Act as day-to-day liaison between agency and publishers, meeting with sales rep and management to maintain relationships, stay on top of offerings and develop compelling/innovative ideas for clients

  • Meets with subject matter experts for educational and continued advancement

  • Lead team alongside Associate Director and Director in creation of strategy/tactical recommendation materials for client presentations

  • Incorporate data from Horizon Media’s suite of planning, evaluation and buying tools for application/analysis into competitive landscape, target digital consumption support, plan development and reporting

  • Lead brainstorms to kick off plan and consideration set development with the intention of bringing great ideas to life

  • Take lead in creation and presentation of media specific documents such as media plans, objectives and strategies decks, and other related functions

  • Monitor trends, tools, and opportunities appropriately to apply that knowledge to campaign strategy and client goals

  • Oversee the accuracy and timeliness of activation, account management, buy maintenance, billing, budgeting, reporting

  • Final sign off for insertion order, plan details and spec documents

15% Stewardship and Strategic Leadership

  • Foster strong, mutually beneficial relationships, building trust and accountability with clients, vendors and Horizon Media departments to facilitate problem solving, i.e.  Traffic, AdOps, Analytics

  • Apply knowledge of current/previous clients’ specific business and industry to enhance and further relationships

  • Act as key resource and trusted partner for clients (i.e., campaign updates, creative needs, POVs on industry changes)

20% Team Development

  • Oversee junior team members, and manage expectations with team leadership in the creation of media specific documents such as media plans, objectives and strategies decks, and other related functions

  • Manage and develop junior team member(s), contributing to growth plans and career goals

  • Manage performance reviews: sharing strengths and weaknesses, providing clear next steps for growth, and suggest training opportunities.

  • Have foresight and understanding of projects to maintain and adjust timing of deliverables for team at large, communicating changes to managers and leadership

  • Provide ongoing education and training on best practices, media principles, and industry at large to junior team

  • Participate in interview process for junior team members’ roles

  • Guide team in ensuring team members have challenging, level-appropriate projects and opportunities to learn new skills, contributing to overall team success

10% Reporting & Analysis

  • Act as primary resource for junior team members as they work through optimization strategies, proactively communicating challenges and opportunities

  • Encouraging junior team members to draw thoughtful, data-based conclusions that illustrates the ‘why’ behind performance, and maps back to digital strategy

  •  Responsible for accurate delivery of all dashboards and insights to the client

  • Ensure team members are monitoring campaign performance daily and oversee campaign optimizations

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Guide team in setting goals and project tasks & timelines, ensuring team members has challenging, level-appropriate projects and opportunities to learn new skills

  • Manage performance review of Assistant and Sr./Strategist,entrtain coaching to maximize success, identifying training needs for improved performance, setting goals for career development and ensuring actions are taken

  • Act as a role model for team

  • Provide active leadership in communication optimization strategies, proactively communicating challenges and opportunities

  • Explore areas for growth within the team

  • Escalate challenges/issues as appropriate to direct manager

Conduct performance reviews for media planning team
 

Knowledge and Skills Required

  • Minimum of 4-7 years of experience developing strategic media recommendations and stewarding media account projects

  • Deep understanding of all media channels across both traditional and digital and upper and lower funnel

  • Familiarity with marketing principles, analytics and concepts

  • Experience with a third party ad server (DCM preferred)

  • On top of industry trends

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word) and media research/reporting resources

  • Prior experience in a Client contact and leadership role

  • Strong leadership and supervisory experience in terms of developing media professionals, with ability to manage a team of 1-3 people

  • Effective verbal and written communication skills; able to confidently present and “sell through” ideas both internally and to Clients

  • Strong writing, presentation and strategic and analytical thinking skills

  • Able to work independently and have excellent time management skills

Salary Range

$85,000.00 - $100,000.00
