JOB SUMMARY: We are seeking a detail-oriented and highly skilled Data & Integration Engineer to join our growing Technology team. This role will focus on managing and synchronizing data across Shopify, internal databases, and 3rd-party APIs to power business intelligence, reporting, and operational workflows. The engineer will be responsible for building reliable data pipelines, integrating systems, and creating APIs that support VeeFriends’ platforms and internal tools.

This role is critical for ensuring our order, inventory, and customer data is accurate, accessible, and actionable. The Data & Integration Engineer will report to the Principal Engineer/Architect and collaborate closely with our Product, Data, and Commerce teams.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

• Data Management & Integration 
• • Develop and maintain integrations with Shopify APIs and 3rd-party APIs for order, product, and inventory synchronization.
  • Insert, update, and transform data in Postgres and other databases.
  • Design and implement ETL processes and data pipelines for reporting and analytics.
• API & System Development
• • Build custom RESTful APIs to expose operational and business data to internal systems and applications.
  • Ensure data integrity, consistency, and security across multiple platforms.
  • Collaborate on architecture for scalable and resilient data services.
• Business Intelligence & Reporting
• • Design and maintain dashboards, reports, and visualizations for stakeholders across the business.
  • Work with cross-functional teams to define KPIs and metrics.
  • Enable data-driven decision-making by surfacing actionable insights.
• Collaboration & Quality
• • Partner with engineering, product, and business teams to align technical solutions with organizational needs.
  • Participate in code reviews, provide technical guidance, and contribute to improving engineering practices.
  • Write automated tests and monitor pipelines to ensure data reliability and quality.

REQUIRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, or related field; or equivalent professional experience.
• 4+ years of experience in software engineering, backend, or data integration roles.
• Strong proficiency in SQL and hands-on experience with Postgres.
• Experience with Shopify development (themes, custom apps, webhooks, and API integrations).
• Familiarity with Cloud service providers such as Azure, AWS, or GCP
• Strong experience with REST APIs (design, integration, and consumption).
• Proficiency in one or more programming languages: C#, Python, JavaScript (nice-to-have but preferred).
• Experience building dashboards and BI solutions (Tableau, Power BI, Metabase, or similar).
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

Physical Requirements:

Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

Must be able to lift 50 lbs at times.
