Job Title:             Intern, IT Infrastructure Support

Department:      IT

Location:             Walnut Creek, CA - Hybrid

Reports To:         Senior Manager, IT

Position Summary

The IT Infrastructure Support Intern manages daily operations to ensure that Canadian Solar's data and assets are always accessible, dependable, and secured. Responsible for ensuring consistent and effective support of IT requests in a timely, courteous, and professional manner. This position will be visible throughout the company, so the individual should have the ability and the desire to make a positive impact on the department and organization.
 

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with coordination of small-scale IT infrastructure projects, including scheduling, documentation, and communication with internal stakeholders.
  • Support the planning and execution of hardware/software rollouts, office moves, and system upgrades in collaboration with senior IT staff.
  • Track project tasks, update timelines, and report on progress to ensure deliverables are met.
  • Participate in team meetings to provide updates, identify risks, and recommend process improvements.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, ensuring alignment between IT infrastructure goals and business objectives.
  • Configure workstation PCs using Microsoft Autopilot and Intune.
  • Provide support and technical guidance on first-level support tickets and issue escalation.
  • Document processes and create knowledge base articles to provide self-service to end users.
  • Identify security risks and ensure they are effectively handled or escalated when required.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to end-users, assisting with IT Infrastructure-related inquiries and issues.
  • Ensure all problems are logged and tracked in the IT ticketing system in accordance with agreed-upon service levels.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support and resolve issues, ensuring minimal downtime and disruption to business operations.

Qualifications

  • Ability to quickly learn and adapt to new technologies. 
  • Strong verbal, written, presentation, and facilitation skills. 
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills to support multiple concurrent projects. 
  • Ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Working towards a diploma or degree from a recognized post-secondary institution in Computer Sciences or equivalent.
  • Microsoft certifications are a desirable asset.
  • Coursework or certification in project coordination, IT service management (ITIL), or project management fundamentals is an asset.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft solutions including Windows, Intune, Microsoft 365, Active Directory, Microsoft Azure, Conditional Access.
  • Understanding of IT processes including ticketing systems, change control, security administration & best practices.
  • Ability to document work processes and transfer knowledge to other IT team members.
  • Familiarity with IT standards, documentation, and ensuring compliance.
  • Exposure to project management tools such as Microsoft Planner or Jira is considered an asset.
  • Ability to collaborate within multi-disciplinary teams to achieve project milestones.
  • Ability to commute to the office, hybrid work arrangements available depending on project requirements.
  • Mandarin Chinese language skill is highly desired.
  • Willingness to work outside of regular hours based on project or business needs.

Compensation & Benefits
Canadian Solar Inc. offers a competitive salary plus fully comprehensive benefits and performance bonus package based on an annual objective achievement. Our generous benefits package includes a 401(k) Retirement Plan, medical/dental/life/disability program, PTO and sick days.

The pay range for this position is $20.00-$25.00 per hour. This range represents hourly pay only, without regard to location, and does not include a quarterly bonus or other incentives or benefits that may apply. The pay range for this role is subject to change.
