Position Summary:
The Intern Minister at Abyssinian Baptist Church will serve as a dynamic and spiritually grounded support to the pastoral team, focusing primarily on children and youth ministries. The intern will also participate in a variety of ministry assignments including community outreach, social media engagement, evangelism, and other church initiatives. This role is designed to provide hands-on ministerial training and practical experience in a vibrant, historic, and socially active congregation.
Key Responsibilities: Children & Youth Ministry:- Assist in planning, coordinating, and leading weekly programs for children and youth.
- Help prepare lesson plans, worship experiences, and special events (e.g., youth Sundays, retreats, and service projects).
- Build relationships with young people and their families to encourage spiritual growth and church involvement.
- Participate in community engagement efforts including neighborhood outreach, service projects, and evangelistic events.
- Represent the church at local events and collaborate with community partners to extend the church’s mission.
- Support the development of digital content for social media platforms to enhance the church’s online presence.
- Assist in managing communications for ministry events and initiatives via email, newsletters, and other tools.
- Attend weekly staff meetings, worship services, and church events.
- Assist with preaching, teaching, and leading in worship services as assigned.
- Provide administrative support for ministry programs as needed.
- Actively pursuing or recently completed theological education (seminary or Bible college preferred).
- Demonstrated passion for ministry, particularly with children and youth.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
- Familiarity with or willingness to learn about the traditions and mission of the Abyssinian Baptist Church.
- Competence in social media and basic digital tools (e.g., Canva, Facebook, Instagram).
- Spiritually mature and committed to personal growth.
- Collaborative and team-oriented mindset.
- Ability to relate to people of diverse backgrounds.
- Flexible and eager to learn in a fast-paced, ministry-rich environment.
