Industrial Design Internship (Summer 2022)
The Role
This is an opportunity to intern with the industrial design team for an industry-leading family of fitness products and accessories. You will contribute to the functional, aesthetic, and user experience aspects of our product category. In this role, you will work closely with our talented team of designers to develop new products and features that meet our quality and brand standards.
IMPORTANT NOTE: PDF portfolio is preferred in addition to a website. Portfolio should show process, decision making, problem solving and prototyping. The role is hardware focused, meaning this position will not include development of digital products. To upload a PDF of your portfolio, please attach with your resume. Applications without a portfolio are unlikely to be considered.
Key Areas of Responsibility
- Support for end-to-end product development from research and early concept exploration, to product DFM and launch
- Exploring product directions through ideation, sketching, trend research, and inspiration
- Prototyping and testing design concepts
- Creating of proof-of-concept prototypes and artwork
- Work cross-functionally with other designers and engineers to troubleshoot technical issues throughout development and maintain design intent
- Assist in creating pre-production 2D drawings, 3D CAD, CMF, and spec documentation for handoff to engineering and outside vendors
- Switching between solo and collective working environments to meet scheduled milestones
Job Qualifications
- Pursuing Bachelor's or Master’s Degree in Industrial Design
- Graduating class of December 2022 or Spring 2023
- Available for in-person work at Peloton HQ in New York City
- Previous Industrial Design internship
- Experience with CAD & digital rendering
- Visual communication skills, including sketching
- Verbal communication skills, including presenting
- Experience in rough prototype building and user testing
- Adobe Illustrator & Photoshop, MicrosoftOffice Suite (or equivalent)
Bonus Qualifications
- Experience with SolidWorks and Keyshot
- Experience with Sketchbook Pro or ProCreate
- Working cross-functionally with teams such as Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, UI, UX, etc.
- Interest in trend analysis
- Personal interest in wellness or fitness
Peloton’s 11-week-long summer internship program, which takes place from June to August 2022, will allow you to put your classroom learnings into practice at one of the most innovative companies in the world. Our curriculum focuses on professional advancement opportunities (think networking and mentorship), skills development, and on the job training across departments.
