Summer Intern - Legal

We’re looking for our 2020 Summer Intern candidates! This year will be our 10th year hosting a robust class of interns. As a Summer Intern at Fluent, you will gain a hands-on experience in digital marketing working with a diverse and passionate team. The Legal Intern will become familiar with laws such as the Restore Online Shopper’s Confidence Act, the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act, the General Data Protection Regulations and Section 5 of the Federal Trade Commission Act, to effectively make strategic decisions. The Legal Intern will often be presented with complex research questions and draft documents. The Legal Intern will work closely with the General Counsel and other members of the legal and compliance team.
Our paid internship program starts on Monday, June 1st and runs 10 weeks through Thursday, August 6th. Interns will work alongside Fluent employees in the office Monday – Thursday from 9 am to 6 pm with an hour lunch every day.
Your responsibilities:
- Audit creatives alongside the compliance team
- Review and draft legal and business documents
- Assist in developing and executing plans to ensure compliance with all applicable laws
- Review privacy policies and terms and conditions
- Research complex legal questions
- Performs all other duties as assigned
We think you will be a successful candidate if you:
- Proficient in Microsoft 365 and Office applications (i.e. Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint)
- Have the ability to work in a fast-paced environment with poise and good humor
- Bring a strong work ethic, along with stellar communication skills (verbal, written and listening), a positive attitude, enthusiasm, professionalism, ambition, collaboration, curiosity and rigor in all that you do!
Requirements
- Completion of first year from a top-tier ABA-accredited law school
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Experience researching legal issues and questions
- Ability to consistently meet deadlines and work independently
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment
- Demonstrated interest in contracts, digital marketing, and/or privacy
- Experience in Microsoft Office – Word, PowerPoint, and Excel a must
- Communicates effectively through written and verbal methods
- Ability to work under pressure and tight deadlines
