Job Summary:
We are seeking an Investment Finance Lead (“IARL”) who will report to the CFO of SGH and Ceres Life. The IARL will assist the Controller in the development and implementation of accounting policies to guide investment reporting for Ceres Life under SAP, GAAP, and IFRS standards. The IARL will also be responsible for the development of investment forecasts for Ceres Life, to support activities of the Actuarial, FP&A and Risk functions. The ideal candidate will have a strong knowledge of investment products and structures, as well as accounting and finance skills.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain the investment accounting policies of Ceres Life, with a focus on compliance with all applicable accounting and financial guidelines and regulations.
- Function as an internal technical expert on accounting standards developed by the NAIC, FASB and IASB, as well as risk-based capital standards developed by the NAIC.
- Monitor and analyze changes in accounting and risk-based capital standards that could impact Ceres Life, whether effective or proposed.
- Research and analyze new accounting issues and considerations that arise from investment strategies, as necessary.
- Partner with Actuarial, Controllership, Information Technology, Risk and Treasury to develop an integrated ecosystem for investment planning and forecasting activities that leverages common technologies for modeling and reporting.
- Lead the forecasting processes for the investment portfolio of Ceres Life, supporting the needs of the Actuarial, FP&A and Risk functions.
- Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting and analytics around financial results driven by the Ceres Life investment portfolio, including the development of standard packages for management and board reporting.
- Partner with Information Technology function to standardize and automate reporting and analytical packages.
- Ensure all Standard Operating Procedures (“SOP’s”) for investment accounting and reporting are complete, accurate and kept up to date.
The successful candidate will:
- Have proven experience analyzing and reporting on investment products and structures.
- Have a strong understanding of forecasting the cash flows and performance of investments under various market conditions.
- Have demonstrated management skills.
- Exhibit a good systems ability and understanding of process flows and controls.
- Work well within a team, with the ability to communicate at all levels.
Job Qualifications and Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative field such as finance, accounting and / or economics; MBA and / or CPA designation a plus.
- 5 - 7 years’ relevant experience in an investment accounting or finance function.
- Life insurance and annuity industry experience a plus.
- Demonstrated experience with financial modeling.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Initiative-taker with effective communication abilities and ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic start-up environment.
