Origis Energy is seeking a finance professional for the role of Investment Associate or Manager to join our growing team.  This position will assist the Company in evaluating, underwriting and managing investments in utility scale Solar and Battery Energy Storage System projects, evaluating project-level financing options, performance reporting and asset management for existing operational projects.

The Investment Associate or Manager is a regular, full-time position, and is eligible for our generous employee benefits package, including employer paid health insurance, paid time off, a 401(k) plan with employer matching contributions, and other great benefits.

Key Responsibilities

  • Investment related tasks, including:
    • Excel-based project financial modeling, structuring support, ad-hoc investment analysis
    • Build and maintain project financial models throughout all stages of the project lifecycle, from inception through operations
    • Liaising with relevant cross-functional stakeholders (Business Development, Project Development, Engineering, O&M, Procurement, Tax, Data Science, Legal, Capital Markets) to ensure project information is accurate and consistent
    • Preparation and presentation of pricing and final investment memos to the Company’s Chief Executive Officer and investment committee
    • Analyzing and evaluating strategic corporate M&A opportunities
    • Provide modeling support and guidance to Capital Markets team on debt and tax equity project financings
    • Assisting with pricing, negotiation, and evaluation of power purchase agreements (PPAs) and battery tolling agreements, with a particular focus on performance forecasting and quantifying financial impacts of risks and key terms; performing analysis of existing contracted and operating fleet to benchmark underwriting against real-time data to create a feed-back loop for process improvement
  • New market research and analysis includes:
    • Ability to understand key power-market trends in both regulated and deregulated power markets and how they relate to the Company’s portfolio
    • Providing thought leadership on commercial negotiations as well as help drive internal development priorities for optimal return on capital
    • Ability to understand federal, state and local programs for renewable energy incentives and siting / tax opportunities
    • Analyzing the incentive and tax environment and ability to underwrite various revenue streams
  • Financial Planning & Analysis duties includes:
    • Prepare detailed budgets for investment projects, reporting on budget to actuals and be responsible for cash management on relevant investment projects
    • Coordinate all activities to assure a successful and timely realization of the project
    • Communicate with Capital Markets, Accounting and FP&A department on changes on projects and corporate liquidity impacts of projected tax equity & back-leverage financings
  • Other tasks include:
    • Assist in the acquisition and sale of projects
    • General support for ad hoc strategic initiatives

 Preferred Qualifications

  • Demonstrated knowledge of renewable energy power plants
  • Expert financial modeling skills are essential; prior financial modeling experience (LBO, Cash Flow, Debt Sculpting)
  • Intimate knowledge of tax equity and project financing structures, including a deep understanding of tax equity partnership accounting (inside / outside basis)
  • Ideally 3+ years’ experience in renewable energy development / private equity / investment banking / project finance; 2+ years’ experience in renewables / solar strongly preferred
  • Exposure to PPA agreements
  • Base level understanding of power markets
  • Bachelor’s degree (MBA/CFA or Master’s degree in related field preferred but not required)

Location           New York metro market preferred. Origis has corporate offices in Miami, FL and the Austin, TX market; candidates not located in these metro areas may be required to commute periodically for in-person engagements

Travel                 Up to 10% as deemed necessary by the organization

Level                  Associate or Manager level depending on experience and qualifications – no direct reports

The expected starting pay range for this role is outlined below, in addition to a competitive annual bonus and benefits, 401K, etc. This range is an estimate and base pay may be above or below the ranges provided as our individual pay is determined by several factors including, but not limited to, location, experience, education & certifications, as well as performance.

$200,000$230,000 USD
