What is Packz?

Packz is a best-in-class gamified collectibles platform. Open digital packs, get physical trading cards, and either have them shipped to your door or sell them back instantly. In just six months since launch, users have opened more than $15M of packs and shipped tens of thousands of cards to their homes. We are backed by some of the world's best investors, including investors who previously backed companies like DraftKings, StockX, and The Athletic.

Our web product has been live since October and has already found strong traction. Our iOS app is launching this month. We have a small, highly hands-on team, and this is an opportunity to join early as we build in a $100B+ category.

The Role

We are hiring an iOS Engineer to help build the future of the Packz app.

This is a highly hands-on role for someone who loves building consumer apps, cares deeply about product quality, and wants to ship quickly. You will work closely with the founders and the rest of the engineering team to build new features, improve the product, and raise the bar for the iOS experience.

We are open to exceptional early-career candidates, including new grads, if you have already built impressive iOS apps, understand SwiftUI and app development deeply, and can operate at a very high level.

What You'll Do
  • Build and ship product features across the Packz iOS app from idea to release

  • Own user-facing experiences across pack discovery, purchasing, pack opening, collection, wallet, redemption, and retention

  • Write clean, reliable Swift code with a strong focus on performance, maintainability, and user experience

  • Work in SwiftUI and modern iOS patterns to build polished, responsive, production-ready interfaces

  • Use AI-assisted tools and workflows to move faster, unblock yourself, and improve implementation quality

  • Use tools like Cursor, Claude Code, Codex, and similar products effectively to speed up development, improve iteration loops, and ship faster

  • Work closely with founders, design, and backend engineering to turn product ideas into smooth, high-quality mobile experiences

  • Help identify product rough edges and improve them proactively, not just implement specs exactly as written

  • Test thoroughly, fix bugs quickly, and maintain a high quality bar as the app grows

What We're Looking For
  • Strong Swift and SwiftUI skills, with a deep understanding of modern iOS development

  • Evidence that you love building apps and have already built several, whether in school, on your own, or professionally

  • Strong product sense and an eye for smooth, intuitive mobile experiences

  • Ability to move quickly, learn quickly, and figure things out with limited structure

  • Familiarity with popular AI development tools like Cursor, Claude Code, Codex, and a habit of using AI heavily to improve workflows and ship faster

  • Strong communication skills and willingness to work closely with a small, in-person team

Nice to Have
  • Experience shipping an iOS app or meaningful production features to real users

  • Experience with consumer apps, gaming, collectibles, fintech, or other high-engagement products

  • Experience with animations, interactive UI, media-heavy experiences, or delight-oriented product moments

  • Familiarity with app architecture, networking, async flows, analytics, and App Store release workflows

  • An App Store link or GitHub project you can share that shows how you build

Why Packz?
  • Real ownership. You will work on product surfaces that users see and feel every day, not internal tools or edge projects.

  • High velocity. We like moving extremely fast, iterating quickly, and shipping improvements constantly.

  • Modern workflow. We want engineers who are AI-native and excited to use tools like Cursor, Claude Code, and Codex to increase output and move faster.

  • Category-defining product. Packz combines collectibles, gaming, and commerce in a way that creates unique product and engineering challenges.

  • Competitive compensation and benefits. We offer competitive salary, healthcare, vision, dental, 401(k), and $25 of DoorDash credit each for lunch and dinner every workday.

  • Tight-knit, in-person team. We work on-site in NYC and care deeply about speed, quality, and building great products together.
