The IT Operations Specialist will manage IT onboarding, AV systems, troubleshooting, and documentation, focusing on process improvement and automation.
What is Bilt?
Bilt is the membership for where you live.
What started as a way to reward people on their largest expense has turned into an ecosystem connecting our members, property managers and local merchants.
Travel, dining, fitness, everyday spend. We are building systems across payments, credit, loyalty, and commerce all at once.
We run lean and move quickly. Every person here has a real impact on what gets built and how fast it happens.
This role comes with real ownership and high expectations. If you prefer clearly defined lanes and structure, this will feel uncomfortable. If you want to build quickly, have a real say in what gets built, and work on products used by millions, you will likely do your best work here.
What’s the role?
We’re hiring an IT Operations Specialist to help build out our employee-facing IT functions. This is a foundational role: you’ll be responsible for the systems and processes that keep our team productive, and you’ll have real latitude to improve how things work.
Today, that means handling access requests, managing hardware, supporting AV systems, and onboarding new employees. But we’re not looking for someone who just wants to work a queue – we want someone who sees a manual process and thinks about how to automate it, who notices patterns in requests and builds documentation or tooling to address them, and who wants to grow into deeper technical work.
You’ll be part of our IT team and work on-site daily at our NYC headquarters, partnering with teams across the company. This role includes some on-call availability as needed.
In this role, you will…
Employee Lifecycle Operations
- Lead the end-to-end IT onboarding experience: device provisioning, identity activation, access grants, and new hire orientation
- Build and maintain onboarding and offboarding workflows, looking for opportunities to automate manual steps
- Handle access provisioning requests, understanding our Okta group architecture and working with system owners on approvals
- Develop and maintain IT documentation, runbooks, and self-service resources that reduce repetitive requests
AV & Office Technology
- Own and manage AV systems across conference rooms and shared spaces, including setup, troubleshooting, and ongoing maintenance
- Support the technology build-out and troubleshooting for our new office space, including network infrastructure, conference room AV, and endpoint deployment
- Partner with facilities and vendors to implement IT requirements for the new environment
- Contribute to establishing standards and processes for office technology that will scale
IT Support & Triage
- Serve as a primary responder for employee IT requests via Slack
- Troubleshoot authentication, SSO, and access issues across our SaaS stack (Okta, Google Workspace, Slack, GitHub, Zendesk, 1Password, Zoom, and others)
- Build patterns for recurring issues, escalate systemic problems, document solutions, and where possible, eliminate root causes
- Administer the full Mac + Windows fleet lifecycle using Kandji and Intune, while identifying opportunities to streamline processes for new hires
In terms of qualifications, we’re seeking:
Must Have
- 3–5 years in an IT, systems, or technical operations role
- Experience supporting a majority macOS environment with some Windows endpoints
- Hands-on AV management experience, including conference room systems, displays, and related hardware
- Familiarity with identity and access management concepts (Okta experience is a plus)
- A builder’s mindset: you’re not satisfied with “that’s how it’s always been done”
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work across teams
- Comfortable with ambiguity and able to prioritize independently
- On-site in NYC 5 days per week, with some on-call availability as needed
Nice to Have
- Experience with MDM platforms (Kandji, Jamf, Intune)
- Hands-on Google Workspace or Okta administration
- Scripting skills
- Experience building automation with tools like Okta Workflows or similar low-code/no-code platforms
- Interest in AI/LLM tools and their applications in IT operations
Why This Role
You’ll join a small IT team where you’ll have visibility into identity engineering, infrastructure, and security – not just support. We’re building modern IT operations from the ground up, and there’s meaningful work to do beyond tickets. For someone early in their career who wants to build things and grow technically, this is a role with real upside.
Benefits:
- Compensation - We offer a competitive salary with a meaningful stake in the company via equity and our performance bonus program
- Health insurance for you (& your loved ones) from day one - Enjoy a One Medical Membership, wellness stipends, family programs and more, on us. We’ve got you and your family covered from day one.
- 401k plan with a match - Retirement may feel more like a pipe dream than a reality but we’re here to help you get there.
- Commuter FSAs - We believe the best ideas come from being together in one place. We just don’t think getting there should be so expensive.
- UNLIMITED PTO - Because we believe that working hard shouldn’t mean always working. Take time for you as often as you need it.
- Exclusive Employee only Bilt Points - We give our employees unique opportunities to earn points throughout their time at Bilt.
- Team Events - We believe in human connection so we hold events to help our employees break from the monotony of the typical work week.
At Bilt, we believe in transparency and we do our best to make sure the company and our candidates are on the same page as it relates to compensation. In addition to posting salary ranges for our open roles, candidates should expect to be asked about compensation expectations and requirements early on in their interview process. Our goal is to highlight when expectations and Bilt’s salary range may be out of sync, and work with the candidate to determine whether it makes sense to continue conversations.
We are considering candidates with differing levels of expertise for this position. Leveling will be based upon your experience and performance in the interview process.
Where a new hire falls within a range will be based on their individual skills and experience, and how these competencies compare across other employees in the same role. Bilt's bands are designed to allow for individual compensation growth within the role. As such, new hires typically start at the lower end of the range. Bilt rewards performance and outcomes - should you join the company, you will have the opportunity to grow your salary over time.
The salary range for a IT Operations Specialist is $90,000-$110,000 and will be eligible for equity and an annual performance-based bonus.
