Maintain and troubleshoot IT hardware and software, perform preventative maintenance and upgrades, install/configure equipment, document systems, provide technical support and training, participate in on-call rotation, collaborate with corporate IT and vendors, and ensure data confidentiality.
Job Summary & Responsibilities
- Assesses daily performance of information technology hardware and software systems. Routinely updates software configurations.
- Schedules regular preventative maintenance and upgrades. Evaluates problematic systems and performs corrective maintenance (repair and re-installation) as necessary, including quick and efficient response to emergencies.
- Research, identifies, and recommends software and equipment for major system improvements in consultation with station management, HBI Information Services, and vendors.
- Installs and configures new equipment and software. Adheres to project schedules and specifications.
- Maintains up-to-date equipment inventories, technical drawings, configuration records, and wiring diagrams. Document standard operating and emergency procedures.
- Provides technical support in a cooperative manner to station personnel at all levels in all departments, to clients, and to viewers. Trains personnel on new systems and produces training documents as required.
- Work hours may vary including overnight and weekend assignments. IT Systems Administrator must be available for emergencies and other assignments when needed.
- Always maintain confidentiality of data.
- Collaborates with corporate network services, systems engineering and/or application development to restore service and/or identify problems.
- Facilitates the company cell phone plan.
- Participates in weekend on call rotation.
- Reports to Director of Engineering.
- Complete other duties as assigned.
- Post-secondary technical or IT degree, or equivalent experience, license, or certification.
- Two or more years of related work experience in essential job functions.
- Knowledge of information technology is relevant to essential job functions including:
- Windows-based server administration and associated user workstations (including Microsoft Exchange,)
- IP Networks,
- Network and File System Security
- Previous technical experience in broadcasting or media is preferred.
- Must be able to take initiative but also to follow direction when required and have a strong ability to meet tight deadlines and work well in pressure situations.
- Solid organizational and time management skills.
- Demonstrated ability to handle sensitive and/or confidential information in a professional manner.

- Must have a valid New York State driver’s license or apply for one within 30 days of relocating to Rochester, New York, consistent with NYS motor vehicle law. You must also have a safe driving history as determined by the Company. Driving record will be checked before hire and annually.
- Ability to attend meetings is required. Work cooperatively and collaboratively with others. Build working relationships with co-workers, customers, and vendors.

Physical Requirements
Ability to sit and work at a computer screen for periods of time. Ability to crawl, stoop, bend, lift overhead, and walk to reach equipment for evaluation, repair, and adjustment. Must be able to work for extended periods of time in a confined area. Good vision to see computer screen. Read, hear and speak clearly. Ability to communicate in English both verbally and in writing. Must be able to read and interpret instructions, schematics, and service manuals. Manipulate computer keys and general office equipment, including telephone. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. Ability to drive/operate a vehicle in a safe manner.
