About the Team and the Role

The Junior AI Specialist will support the firm’s efforts to evaluate, test, and responsibly adopt generative AI tools in support of legal work. Based in our New York office, this role will assist with AI pilots, prompt testing, workflow documentation, and adoption activities across the firm’s practice groups.

The ideal candidate is an early-career professional with foundational experience using AI tools and developing prompts in a business, academic, or professional-services setting. The role will work closely with attorneys, knowledge management, information services, and security teams to document use cases, prepare training materials, support testing, and help users apply AI tools in a secure and practical manner.

Key Responsibilities

AI Pilots & Prompt Testing

• Support Workflow Review: Work with attorneys and firm teams to observe and document legal and business workflows, identify practical opportunities for AI assistance, and capture questions or limitations for further review.
• Prompt Testing: Develop, test, and refine straightforward prompts for common legal and business use cases, using feedback and agreed testing criteria to improve clarity, consistency, and usefulness.
• Support AI Pilots: Assist with evaluations and proof-of-concept pilots for approved generative AI and legal technology platforms, including organizing test cases, recording results, and escalating issues to more senior team members.
• Maintain Documentation: Keep clear records of prompts, test results, known limitations, approved use cases, and user feedback to support repeatable and well-documented AI workflows.

Custom AI Applications & Workflow Automation

• Support Custom AI Development: Assist senior team members with scoping, building, testing, and, under established procedures, deploying lightweight custom AI agents or workflow automation tools for approved legal and back-office use cases.
• Assist with Use-Case Workflows: Help develop and test tools that support legal tasks such as contract review, research assistance, and matter intake, as well as back-office functions such as billing, document management, and compliance tracking
• Use Low-Code/No-Code Platforms: Support senior team members in scoping and building lightweight custom applications using low-code/no-code or AI-assisted development platforms, escalating technical, security, or workflow questions as appropriate.
• Document and Improve Tools: Document functionality, limitations, and intended use cases for internal stakeholders, and gather feedback from legal and operations staff to help improve custom tools.

• Support Project Delivery: Assist with project plans, timelines, meeting notes, action items, status updates, and basic measures of pilot progress under the direction of the AI and Information Services team.
• Coordinate with Teams: Help schedule and organize communications among attorneys, professional staff, IT and information security teams, and technology vendors.
• Follow Secure-Use Practices: Apply firm policies and approved procedures for confidentiality, privacy, access controls, and secure use of AI tools; raise questions or potential risks to appropriate team members.

• Support Adoption: Serve as a primary point of contact for attorneys and business professionals seeking AI support; triage and resolve day-to-day AI support requests, escalate complex issues, and help prepare and deliver introductory demonstrations and office hours while coordinating user-support sessions and practice-group training sessions with tailored examples.
• Create Knowledge Assets: Draft and maintain quick-start guides, FAQs, sample prompts, training materials, annotated screenshots, checklists, short how-to materials, and other internal documentation based on user needs and feedback.
• One-on-one training: Provide individualized training to attorneys and staff on AI workflows, prompting practices, databases, content organization, and related legal technology processes.
• Firm-wide AI innovation events: Coordinate firm-wide AI innovation events, including planning logistics, preparing agendas and materials, tracking participation, and supporting follow-up communications.

AI Platform & Content Management

• Build, maintain, and organize content to support team, matter, and practice-group needs, and manage related approval workflows and user permissions in accordance with firm policies.
• Create, maintain, and troubleshoot AI-enabled databases for matters, teams, and projects, including curating and organizing content from document management systems to build knowledge bases structured for accurate retrieval and integration with legal AI tools.

Position Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor’s degree required; approximately one to two years of post-college experience is preferred. Coursework or hands-on experience in technology, communications, business, legal studies, data, or a related field is helpful.
• Experience: Foundational experience using generative AI tools, writing or testing prompts, documenting workflows, or supporting technology-enabled projects in a business setting. Experience in a law firm or legal-services environment is preferred but not required. 
• Technical Literacy: Comfortable using common productivity and generative AI tools; able to learn new platforms, follow testing instructions, compare outputs, and document results. Familiarity with prompt design, legal technology, data handling, or analytics tools is helpful but not required.
• Communication Skills: Clear, organized written and verbal communication, with the ability to explain basic AI concepts, document findings, and support attorneys and staff with patience and professionalism

Preferred Skills

• Exposure to legal, professional-services, or other confidential business environments, including an understanding that sensitive and client information must be handled carefully.
• Experience with legal knowledge management, document management, legal research, or productivity platforms, such as iManage, Westlaw, LexisNexis, or similar tools.
• Experience supporting training, user enablement, change adoption, or technology documentation; interest in continuing to learn about generative AI and responsible technology use.

Work Environment

• This is a full-time, non-exempt position based in New York, NY
• This is a hybrid role typically 3 days in-office (Tuesdays and Wednesdays required); 2 days work-from-home
• Overtime (above 35 hours) may be required based on business needs
