About the role

Ruby Labs is looking for a Junior QA Engineer who is detail-oriented, proactive, and eager to grow in the field of Quality Assurance. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure our applications meet the highest standards of quality. This role is ideal for someone with basic QA experience who is ready to take ownership of testing tasks and grow their skills in a dynamic remote team.

You’ll contribute to manual and automated testing across web and mobile platforms, ensuring that features are thoroughly tested before release.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manual Testing: Execute test cases for new features, regression cycles, and bug fixes across web and mobile platforms.

  • Test Documentation: Write and maintain clear test suites, test cases, and checklists in tools like TestRail or similar.

  • Collaboration: Work closely with QA leads, developers, and product managers to understand features and define quality expectations.

  • Bug Reporting: Identify, isolate, and report bugs and usability issues with clear documentation and reproduction steps.

  • Automation Support: Assist in expanding automated test coverage.

  • Quality Advocacy: Help promote a culture of quality throughout the product development cycle.

Qualifications
  • Experience: 6+ months of experience in software testing, internships, or freelance projects count.

  • Attention to Detail: Strong attention to detail and ability to spot inconsistencies or edge cases.

  • Basic QA Concepts: Understanding of SDLC, STLC, bug life cycle, and different types of testing (functional, UI, regression, smoke).

  • Tools: Familiar with at least one bug tracking system (e.g., Jira) and test documentation tools.

  • Technical Curiosity: Interest in learning test automation and basic scripting.

  • Communication: Good verbal and written English skills; ability to work in a remote, async team.

Nice to have
  • Familiarity with frontend debugging tools (e.g., browser dev tools).

  • Exposure to API testing using tools like Postman.

  • Experience with or interest in writing basic automated tests.

  • Experience testing React/Next.js-based applications is a plus.

Location

Ruby Labs operates within the CET (Central European Time) zone. Applicants from any country are welcome to apply for the position as long as they are located within approximately ± 4 hours of CET. This ensures optimal collaboration and communication during working hours.

Interview Process
