About The Role
The Disney DTC Content Analytics team is seeking a Lead Data Analyst who will be an exceptional addition to our team. You will be responsible for turning data into insights and insights into key business decisions that steer the strategic direction of The Walt Disney Company. The right person for this role has exceptional analytical capabilities, loves problem-solving, is a good communicator, and is passionate about supporting content creators.
You will play a key role in the future of TWDC's streaming business by leading a variety of short and long-term projects, including the evolution of Disney's external data communications framework. This role will support decisions made within the streaming organization as well as our various studios. You will provide analysis and analytical frameworks looking at the Disney+ and Hulu content catalogs, the audiences that are consuming that content, and ways that the business can optimize that content in order to best serve those audiences.
Responsibilities

  • Conduct analysis to drive valuable business insights, using internal analytics tools and SQL to access and manipulate multivariate data
  • Collaborate with the Communications team to identify interesting trends in content performance for use in external press stories
  • Build data visualizations and multi-faceted dashboards that convey key content metrics, significant trends, and relationships across multiple data sources within the content domain
  • Ideate and develop new metrics and analytical approaches, measuring trends and capturing streaming-wide behaviors across the entire DTC catalog (Disney+ and Hulu)
  • Present the team's work across various stakeholder groups
  • Lead cross-functional projects with Data Science and other Analytics teams spanning user segmentation, engagement trends, and portfolio optimization
  • Partner with Data Engineering to ensure data quality and manage self-service tools
  • Take projects and requests from end-to-end, defining business needs, developing strategies, and socializing insights to the business
  • Effectively communicate results through compelling data storytelling across the organization


Basic Qualifications

  • Degree in an analytical area such as Mathematics, Statistics, Operations Research, Computer Science or equivalent
  • 7+ years of relevant work experience in analytics and/or business intelligence
  • Strong analytical skills - with an advanced ability to read/write complex SQL queries to analyze data
  • Experience with data visualization tools (Tableau, Looker, etc.) coupled with strong storytelling skills for technical and non-technical audiences
  • Experience taking vague requirements and manipulating them into polished final products
  • Strong and effective communication and presentation skills


Nice-To-Haves

  • Experience in statistical analysis tools like R or Python
  • Understanding of data warehousing concepts and design
  • Prior experience in Media/Entertainment is a plus.


Additional Information

The hiring range for this position in Santa Monica is $136,100 to $182,400 per year and in New York is $142,600 to $191,100 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate's geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
