JOB SUMMARY

The Lead Engineer is both a technical leader and an active contributor in an agile development pod responsible for building and scaling core features of our SaaS platform. As a Lead Engineer you’ll be creating high quality code, as well as setting engineering direction while partnering closely with internal stakeholders (such as Product and UX) to deliver high-impact customer value.

This role is ideal for someone who loves hands-on engineering but also thrives in shaping architecture, driving best practices, and helping a team operate at a high level.

DUTIES & ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Technical Leadership

  • Lead technical design and architecture decisions for your pod’s domain

  • Ensure solutions are scalable, secure, and aligned with platform standards

  • Drive technical discovery and implementation planning

Hands-On Development

  • Write high-quality, production-ready code

  • Review pull requests and provide thoughtful, actionable feedback

  • Troubleshoot complex issues across the stack

Pod Leadership & Collaboration

  • Partner with Product Management to translate business requirements into technical solutions

  • Help scope work, break down initiatives, and manage technical tradeoffs

  • Represent your pod in cross-team technical discussions

  • Mentor less experienced engineers within your pod

Agentic Development

  • Embrace agentic development practices as a core part of the software development lifecycle

  • Continually reevaluate the best practices of successful developers employing AI

  • Participate in both sides of knowledge sharing

Quality & Delivery

  • Drive engineering best practices in your pod and beyond

  • Ensure predictable, high-quality delivery of features and improvements

  • Represent the perspective of long-term maintainability and scalability

COMPETENCIES

Required:

  • 5+ years of experience using Ruby on Rails

  • 5+ years of experience using Javascript

  • 2+ years of experience with SQL

  • Experience developing Single Page Applications

Nice To Have:

  • Experience with AWS

  • Experience with React

  • Experience with Kubernetes

  • Experience with PostgreSQL

  • Experience with Ext.js

  • Experience with Python

  • Experience developing AI solutions (e.g. using LangChain, Amazon Bedrock)

  • Experience with Jenkins

  • Experience with CI/CD practices
