Job OverviewSimpleClosure is seeking an experienced Staff Engineer with proven leadership skills to join our growing engineering team. In this role, you’ll take ownership of critical end-to-end features, spanning both frontend and backend systems, while mentoring other engineers and helping define our technical roadmap. You’ll work closely with leadership, product, and design to ensure we deliver high-quality, scalable, and maintainable solutions. This position is hybrid in NYC and reports directly to the CTO.
ResponsibilitiesLead the design, development, and delivery of complex, full stack features from concept to deployment.
Mentor and guide other engineers, promoting strong engineering practices and continuous learning.
Architect scalable, maintainable systems across the stack, ensuring alignment with business goals.
Collaborate cross-functionally to translate product requirements into technical solutions.
Own both frontend (React/TypeScript/NextJS) and backend (Node.js, Python, Docker/K8s, Managed Services) implementation for key initiatives.
Conduct and lead code reviews to maintain quality, performance, and security standards.
Ensure cross-browser, cross-device, and API compatibility and reliability.
Introduce modern tools, frameworks, and processes to improve development speed and maintainability.
Partner with leadership to set technical direction, improve team workflows, and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced startup environment.
Experience: 7+ years of professional software development experience, with at least 2+ years in a senior or leadership capacity.
Full Stack Expertise: Advanced proficiency in React and TypeScript on the frontend, and Node.js and Python on the backend; experience working with modern cloud environments required.
Architecture Skills: Demonstrated ability to design and implement scalable systems and APIs.
Leadership: Proven ability to mentor and coach engineering teams in collaborative, early-stage environments.
Quality-Driven: Strong focus on testing, maintainability, performance optimization, and security.
Design Systems: Comfortable implementing responsive designs from Figma or similar tools.
Startup Mindset: Thrives in dynamic, evolving environments with shifting priorities and tight timelines.
Compensation: $185,000 - $205,000
