WHAT YOU'LL DO AT H1

As a Lead People Business Partner, you'll serve as a strategic advisor to senior leaders while owning several of H1's most impactful People programs. You'll partner closely with the SVP, People and business leaders to shape organizational strategy, develop leaders, and build scalable people practices that help our teams thrive. This role balances executive partnership with hands-on execution—you'll coach leaders through complex people challenges, use data to drive decisions, and continuously improve the employee experience across every stage of the employee lifecycle.

You will:

  • Partner with senior leaders to develop people strategies that improve organizational effectiveness, leadership capability, employee engagement, and team performance.

  • Influence H1's performance management philosophy and annual processes, guiding leaders through goal setting, calibration, performance reviews, promotions, and performance improvement plans while ensuring consistency and fairness across the organization.

  • Design, lead, and continuously improve key People programs, including onboarding, manager development, 360 feedback, engagement surveys, and employee lifecycle initiatives.

  • Manage H1's biannual Culture Amp engagement survey process, analyze organizational health metrics and turnover trends, facilitate quarterly churn reviews, and translate insights into actionable recommendations for leadership.

  • Coach managers through complex employee relations matters, organizational change, performance concerns, career development conversations, and difficult leadership decisions while serving as a trusted advisor across the business.

  • Lead complex employee relations investigations and partner with leaders to resolve sensitive employee issues with sound judgment and a people-first approach.

  • Drive continuous improvement of the employee experience by leading initiatives including onboarding, the Buddy Program, exit interview analysis, Business Resource Groups, and other culture-building programs.

  • Partner cross-functionally with Recruiting, Finance, Legal, and executive leadership to implement scalable People initiatives and support workforce planning, organizational design, and talent strategy.

  • Provide strategic oversight of the NYC employee experience by partnering with the Office Assistant on workplace operations, facilities, vendors, and employee events.

  • Mentor members of the People team by sharing best practices, elevating HRBP capabilities, and helping build a high-performing People function.

ABOUT YOU:

You're a strategic HR leader who knows that great People work starts with understanding the business. You build credibility through thoughtful coaching, sound judgment, and a genuine desire to help leaders and employees succeed.

You enjoy balancing long-term strategy with hands-on execution and are energized by building programs that make a lasting impact across an organization.

You are:

  • A trusted advisor who builds strong relationships with leaders at every level.

  • Comfortable navigating ambiguity and creating structure in a fast-growing environment.

  • Equally confident coaching senior leaders, facilitating a leadership workshop, or leading a difficult employee conversation.

  • Data-driven, using insights from engagement surveys, HR metrics, and organizational trends to influence decisions.

  • Passionate about building scalable people programs that improve both business outcomes and employee experience.

  • An exceptional communicator and facilitator who can influence without authority.

  • NYC-based and excited to collaborate in our office three days per week.

REQUIREMENTS

  • 7+ years of progressive experience as an HR Business Partner, People Business Partner, or similar strategic People role within SaaS, technology, or another fast-paced, high-growth tech-centric environment

  • Demonstrated experience partnering with Director and VP-level leaders on organizational design, talent strategy, leadership coaching, and organizational effectiveness

  • Proven success designing, owning, and continuously improving company-wide People programs such as onboarding, performance management, engagement, leadership development, or employee experience initiatives

  • Significant experience leading employee relations matters, investigations, and performance management processes

  • Strong analytical skills with experience using HR metrics and engagement data to influence business decisions

  • Experience with Employee Engagement, HRIS, and people analytics platforms

  • Experience leveraging AI, automation, Excel, and/or Google Sheets, along with other technology to improve People processes and decision-making

COMPENSATION
