US Mobile is building the future of wireless communication. The goal: one unified network open to any person and any device, worldwide. Connection without walls.
We’re getting there by empowering customers. All three major networks on one phone and one plan, plus home internet from Starlink. No lock-in. No commitments. Custom fit plans at every price point. 24/7 customer support with real people, empowered to help. We get real-time feedback from Reddit, surveys, and customer support informing product roadmaps and everything we do. It’s working — Consumer Reports named us the top-rated mobile carrier two years in a row.*

And we’re building innovative systems that scale. A network agnostic tech stack. Agile, cross-functional teams built on trust and mutual respect. This work isn’t for everyone. If you work fast, flexibly, and collaboratively — without compromising standards — we want to hear from you.

We're looking for a seasoned design leader to set the strategic direction for our design practice, elevate our craft and culture, and shape how design shows up across the company. This is not a people-management role in the traditional sense — it's a Lead IC position for someone who influences through vision, judgment, and mentorship rather than headcount. You'll partner directly with product, engineering, and executive leadership to define where design needs to go, and you'll bring the rest of the team with you by setting the bar, coaching others up to it, and being the voice of design at the table where strategy gets decided.

10+ YOE in consumer tech, ideally with time at both high-growth startups and larger, more mature orgs, a track record of shipping ambitious work at scale, and a well-formed point of view on what great design organizations look like — and how to build one.

What You'll Do:

  • Lead the design vision, execution and strategy across all user-facing surfaces, including rebrands and redesigns
  • Own the end-to-end experience and vision for a new desktop web app (rebranded components, UX upgrades)
  • Set the design direction in partnership with brand and marketing for new marketing pages (rebranded components, IA, UX upgrades)
  • Define the rituals, review processes, and culture that increase the velocity and quality of the design team.
  • Be the standard-bearer for mindful, high-craft EPD collaboration — modeling and teaching it to others.
  • Partner with product and executive leadership to define design's role in company strategy, not just execute against a roadmap handed to you. Weigh in on what we build, not only how.
  • Be a recognized point of view within the org (and ideally externally) on design quality, systems thinking, and product craft. Set direction on design principles and standards that outlast any single project.
  • Actively coach other designers, giving thoughtful critique, unblocking their thinking, and helping them grow their judgment — not just their output. Be the person others go to when a design problem is genuinely hard.
  • Lead the definition of new components and the redesigned app experience across Mobile.
  • Own and guide a new design system (web, mobile, marketing) post-rebrand, and establish the governance model for how it evolves.

What We're Looking For:

  • 10+ years experience as a Product Designer, including significant time operating at a senior/staff/lead level in fast-paced environments.
  • Deep experience in consumer facing technology, fintech, or platform products, with a portfolio that shows range across strategic and executional work.
  • A demonstrated ability to make and defend strategic design decisions — balancing user needs, business goals, and technical constraints — and to influence roadmap and prioritization conversations at the leadership level.
  • A strong, well-articulated point of view on design quality, backed by research, data, and experience, along with the ability to teach that point of view to others.
  • Proven experience mentoring, guiding, or informally leading other designers — through critique, pairing, career conversations, or setting team-wide standards.
  • Craft user-friendly, delightful experiences with an exceptionally high bar for visual polish, information architecture, and cognitive load.
  • Comfort operating with ambiguity — able to bring structure and strategic clarity to 0-to-1 problems with incomplete information.
  • Autonomously ship features from 0 to 1 with a high bar for IA, UX, UI, and final visuals, while also stepping back to ensure the broader system stays coherent.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills — able to represent design's perspective persuasively in front of executives, PMs, and engineering leads.

Perks and benefits:

  • Annual Offsite to hack & meet the team. 2024 Japan. 2025 Hawaii.
  • Competitive Salary
  • Gym reimbursement
  • Commute reimbursement
  • Flexible working hours
  • Professional development stipend
  • Flexible time off
  • Cell phone service (up to $100/mo)
