Joining the team as a Lead Site Reliability Engineer - Active Directory on the Coupa Cloud Operations team will provide you the opportunity to make a huge impact by setting the strategic technical direction for a high-growth company. We are seeking an accomplished, visionary leader to join our team, focusing on the critical area of Identity and Access Management. In this Lead role, you will be responsible for defining the technical roadmap, establishing our center of excellence, and overseeing the design, implementation, and mentorship of our Active Directory strategy. You will leverage your expertise to drive best practices in directory services, authentication, and authorization, empowering our teams to proactively secure our environment, optimize user access, and deliver a seamless, secure user experience. What You'll Do:
- Architect and maintain an 'Identity-as-Code' ecosystem, utilizing CI/CD pipelines to automate directory changes, security policy updates, and infrastructure provisioning for our global Active Directory deployment.
- Lead the design, implementation, and management of a global, resilient identity infrastructure for a massive-scale public cloud and on-premise environment.
- Act as the final escalation point for complex and critical Active Directory-related incidents, demonstrating advanced troubleshooting skills and a commitment to root cause analysis and resolution.
- Implement advanced observability and alerting in New Relic and other tools for directory services, focusing on continuous monitoring of directory health, performance, and overall system reliability.
- Define and govern the AD Delegation and Tiered Administration model to ensure strict adherence to the principle of least privilege across the enterprise.
- Spearhead the onboarding and integration of applications and services with modern identity platforms such as Okta for authentication and authorization.
- Mentor teams on security best practices, driving continuous improvement in identity reliability and lifecycle management.
- Own and publish standards/best practice documentation for identity architecture, administration, and security, serving as the domain's authority.
What You Will Bring to Coupa:
- Mandatory expertise: Deep expertise in Active Directory Domain Services (AD DS), including DNS, DHCP, Certificate Services, and Group Policy Object (GPO) Management.
- Preferred: Experience with cloud-based directory services such as AWS Directory Service and Azure Active Directory (Azure AD/Entra ID).
- Deep understanding of modern Identity Governance and Administration (IGA) processes, including automated user lifecycle management, RBAC/ABAC methodologies, and compliance reporting.
- Proven experience implementing GitOps workflows for infrastructure configuration, with proficiency in tools such as Terraform, Chef, Ansible, or PowerShell DSC for state management.
- Familiarity with directory log analysis (e.g., via SIEM tools like Azure Sentinel) for troubleshooting and health monitoring.
- 10+ years of progressive experience in IT, Systems Engineering, DevOps, or Identity Engineering, with a minimum of 2+ years in a technical leadership role.
- Proven track record of defining and driving technical roadmaps for identity and access management platforms.
- Must have competency in PowerShell, Python, or equivalent scripting languages for automation.
- Experience building & running modern identity solutions using public cloud technologies (AWS, Azure, GCP).
- Solid understanding of networking systems and protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP).
- Strong communicator and cross-team collaborator with a passion for solving complex problems.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent professional experience.
- US Citizenship required due to Gov cloud and FedRamp requirements.
