Lead Software Engineer (Scala) - Storefront

Commerce is searching for a Lead Software Engineer to join the Storefront Team. We are currently a large, distributed team that engages with the entire Engineering organization by maintaining Commerce’s Storefront Environment which allows shoppers to browse products and make purchases for all of our merchants stores.

Responsibilities:

- Maintain and improve services that power Commerce’s Storefront Environment

- Support bug fixes and implement enhancements to applications in Production

- Mentor and help engineers become more productive by removing blockers

- Produce technical documentation of workflows related to the Storefront

- Work and collaborate with a team distributed between US and EU timezones

- Work closely with engineers to gather requirements and develop the team’s roadmap

- Comfortable exploring and engaging in unfamiliar languages, tools, and technologies

Requirements:

- 7+ years of professional experience as a Software Engineer

- Experience developing in Scala, Node.js, and React, with experience with Cloudflare and Cloudflare Workers as a bonus

- Experience with evolving/scaling high throughput applications

- Able to lead the team in project discovery, design, and implementation

- Desire to work in a collaborative, open environment on an Agile team as a contributor and mentor

- Fluent in English

- Hybrid: 3 Days per week in office

Education:

- BS degree required or higher degree in Computer Science or related technical field

The exact salary will be dependent on the successful candidate’s location, relevant knowledge, skills, and qualifications.
