As a Lead Test Engineer at Wordly, you will bring your strong sense of curiosity and your expertise with software testing to the interesting challenge of testing Wordly’s real-time translation products.
As a member of the quality engineering team, you will be part of a highly collaborative engineering organization. In this role, you will partner with the product development team and become an expert in how customers work with our products. With this perspective, you’ll make the customer experience better through testing, driving developer-focused test processes, and supporting the release of high quality features.
As a lead tester, you provide direction to our test efforts, either guiding the testers’ work on features and releases, or by providing technical expertise and problem solving skills when faced with testing challenges. You help the team get things done.
This is not a test automation role, but it supports the test automation team. You should be very comfortable with a wide array of test tools, and you should certainly have hands-on experience with test automation.

ResponsibilitiesDriving the outcome of well-tested, well-understood code, and working features.
Raise the bar on our testing approaches and skills.
Work in conjunction with the development teams to deliver working features.
Own the testing of particular applications and releases.
Maintain a queue of automatable test scenarios for the automation team.
Use automated testing as one of your tools to drive quality.
Work with the quality and development teams to improve the Wordly customer experience of our products.
Contribute to Wordly’s engineering processes and culture to maintain a cooperative and supportive environment for all.
Have strong critical thinking and executive skills, with the ability to focus on, comprehend, and analyze feature requirements, code behavior, tickets & bug reports, and data.
Have great communication skills, and are able to explain complex topics to testers and developers.
5-10 years of experience testing customer-facing products.
Have at least 1 year as a test lead.
Understand the many categories and definitions of tests, along with their shortcomings.
Experience with testing in different forms of iterative development processes.
Solid experience with testing webapps, APIs, devices, frontends, backends, micro-services, databases, and cloud environment tools.
Familiarity with reading code.
Comfortable working with a fully remote team and leading remote testers.
Experience with contextual planning and testing approaches; you have planned testing at the application level, for several applications concurrently.
Have an excellent understanding of how complicated frontends, backends, and message queue systems work.
Expertise with browser dev tools and DOM-inspection, network traffic, and browser events.
Experience with accessibility testing and WCAG conformance.
Significant experience testing with devices.
Concrete experience working with cloud environments.
Experience with scripting, especially with Python.
Experience with quality-focused metrics and data gathering.
Comfortable with a range of test-related tools like TCMs, QMSs, specialized test tools, etc.
Comfortable with running and diagnosing test automation with build jobs.
