VERB is a digital marketing agency located in downtown Halifax, Nova Scotia. Our global clients offer the opportunity to work and collaborate with some of the world’s biggest destinations, resorts, and travel brands—and with our employee travel credit, it’s easy to experience them for yourself. We take a balanced approach to work/life and have fun at the office– or wherever we happen to be working from. We are passionate about exceeding expectations and we thrive on jobs other agencies might find too big, or too difficult, or too fast.

Sound good? Great, here’s who we’re looking for…

The Lead Web Designer shapes the digital experiences that bring brands, destinations, and stories to life online. This role blends strategic insight, conceptual creativity, and hands-on design leadership to craft web platforms that are as intuitive as they are inspiring. You’ll work with multidisciplinary teams in building digital ecosystems that balance emotional storytelling with performance-driven design—where every interaction is crafted to connect, engage, and convert.

What You Will Do

  • Lead the direction for web initiatives, ensuring decisions made align with brand identity, user intent, business goals, and client vision.
  • Architect concepts that merge narrative-driven design with frictionless usability—shaping experiences that feel elevated, modern, and unmistakably on brand.
  • Champion UX principles (alongside the Director of UX), responsive design best practices, accessibility, and scalable design systems that empower long-term growth.
  • Collaborate with development teams to uphold the design integrity of the designs and strengthen the product.
  • Present creative concepts and rationale with clarity, confidence, and strength.
  • Live iteration sessions to help move the needle on a design to approval.
  • Help partners navigate the digital landscape to unlock the full potential of their brand online, which may include alterations that ensure accessibility.
  • Work closely with project managers and technical leads to align timelines, capabilities, and expectations.
  • Stay ahead of digital trends—AI-driven systems, motion design, interaction patterns, emerging technologies—and integrate these trends in a meaningful way.
  • Identify ways to strengthen our processes, elevate our craft, and refine the way teams collaborate.
  • Advocate for continuous improvement and intentional evolution across all digital touchpoints.

We use automated tools, including AI-enabled technology, to support certain aspects of our recruitment process, such as organizing applications and identifying potential matches based on role related criteria. These tools are used to assist with administrative and screening activities only. All hiring decisions including shortlisting, interview selection, and final outcomes are reviewed and made by a human.

We encourage candidates to apply authentically and not rely solely on AI-generated responses, particularly during interviews or assessments. Please note that only candidates selected to move forward will be contacted for a prescreen call.

Requirements
  • 10+ years of experience in digital design, with a focus on web.
  • A portfolio that demonstrates web-led creative thinking, sophisticated visual design, and thoughtful user experience. We require at a minimum 5 current sites with a description of your role.
  • Proven ability to lead and inspire multidisciplinary teams in a fast-paced, highly collaborative environment.
  • Mastery of modern design tools—Figma is a must.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to translate complex digital ideas into compelling narratives.
  • Ability to do the work. We are not an agency of hand-offs. The expectation is that you can run with a project from start to finish.

Benefits

Our benefits are anything but basic, with vacation time available on day one (not to mention an extra bonus week during the holidays), an annual travel credit (for non-work related travel), and free office snacks and drinks to keep you energized when you’re around.

In addition, we offer the following and are consistently looking for new ways to enhance the benefits we offer to our team:

  • A healthy living account
