The Robinhood Legal team plays a central role in guiding the company through complex regulatory environments, managing legal risk, and advising business leaders on key decisions. The team works cross-functionally with internal stakeholders and external partners to ensure compliance and foster trust with users, regulators, and partners alike. The Regulatory, Intellectual Property, Product and Privacy  team mission is to ensure that the legal risk surrounding these subject matters is accurately identified, analyzed, communicated and mitigated.

As a Legal Intern, you will support our legal team on a wide range of topics—from regulatory research and legal analysis to assisting with internal process improvements. You’ll gain exposure to areas such as securities law, broker-dealer operations, and fintech regulations.

This role is based in our New York City or DC offices, with in-person attendance expected at least 3 days per week.

What you’ll do
  • Learn about and work on corporate-related matters including privacy and data protection matters, employment matters, corporate transactional matters, and public company reporting and compliance
  • Learn about and work on financial services regulatory-related matters, including assignments to apply relevant legal requirements to current or planned financial products and services
  • Conduct legal research and write memoranda regarding financial services regulations and how they apply to new products and services
  • Assist with special projects and initiatives, as assigned
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams as they create, design and launch new products and services for Robinhood customers
  • Learn how to work within a corporate legal department and how it interacts with various business lines, the compliance function, and other key stakeholders in the organization
What you bring
  • Currently enrolled in an ABA accredited institution as a 1st or 2nd year law student
  • Excellent judgment and communication skills, with a strong attention to detail
  • Execution oriented attitude with the humility, drive, and creativity to get things done
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Reliable and collaborative team player

Base pay for the successful applicant will depend on a variety of job-related factors, which may include education, training, experience, location, business needs, or market demands. The expected hourly range for this role is based on the location where the work will be performed and is aligned to one of 3 compensation zones. For other locations not listed, compensation can be discussed with your recruiter during the interview process.
