Position Summary
- We are looking for Legal Operations Manager to join our in-house legal team in New York City. Reporting to the General Counsel, this person will own the systems, processes, and vendor relationships that keep the legal department running efficiently. This is a high-impact individual contributor role. Our ideal candidate is forward-thinking and actively integrates AI tools into their daily professional routine.
Core Responsibilities
- Own the legal department’s technology stack, including contract lifecycle management (CLM), e-billing, matter management, and document management systems
- Own corporate compliance and entity management, including by interfacing with registered agent to onboard entities and keep them in good standing
- Assist with outside counsel management including invoice routing and review
- Build and maintain reporting for legal spend, matter status, and KPIs; present findings to General Counsel
- Lead cross-functional projects to improve legal workflow efficiency, including intake, contract routing, and approval processes
- Manage legal holds and coordinate with IT and records management on document retention policy
- Identify, evaluate, and onboard legal technology vendors; manage renewals and contract terms
- Create and maintain standard operating procedures, playbooks, and training materials for the legal team
Education Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- Proven AI literacy, including understanding AI strengths, limitations, and ethical considerations. Experience with Harvey AI a plus.
- 3–6 years of experience in legal operations or law firm practice management
- Strong analytical skills
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously with minimal supervision
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; able to influence stakeholders at all levels and communicate confidently with c-suite level management.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to take ideas and run with them from concept to conclusion.
