The Legal Support Senior Lead Officer is a senior-level derivatives negotiator who serves as a subject matter expert in ISDA and derivatives trading documentation, supporting global markets business activities. This role is responsible for leading complex negotiations, advising on contractual terms and risk implications, and driving execution of high-volume transactions.

This is a non-attorney role requiring a pragmatic, proactive professional with deep knowledge of derivatives documentation, strong commercial awareness, and the ability to influence outcomes across stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as a senior negotiator and subject matter expert for ISDA Master Agreements, Schedules, Credit Support Annexes (CSAs), and related derivatives, futures clearing, and collateral documentation; lead complex and bespoke negotiations across the full transaction lifecycle
  • Prepare, review, draft, and negotiate standard and non-standard documentation in support of trading relationships, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and alignment with business and risk objectives
  • Advise business stakeholders on contractual provisions, negotiation strategy, and the implications of proposed changes, including associated legal, credit, operational, and reputational risks
  • Provide guidance on industry documentation standards, market practice, and regulatory requirements; interpret and apply these in the context of negotiations and transaction execution
  • Partner closely with Trading, Sales, Credit, Risk, Operations, Legal, and other control functions to facilitate efficient onboarding and execution of transactions
  • Evaluate business proposals and documentation terms against institutional risk appetite, regulatory expectations, and market standards, escalating issues where appropriate
  • Monitor and manage complex negotiations and transaction flows, ensuring timely execution, appropriate documentation controls, and transparency in status tracking and issue resolution
  • Drive enhancements in documentation practices, including standardization, automation, and efficiency of negotiation and execution processes
  • Support quality control efforts to ensure consistency of documentation, adherence to procedures, and maintenance of accurate records of negotiations and their status
  • Stay current on industry developments, including ISDA documentation updates, regulatory changes, and market trends, and incorporate these into negotiation practices
  • Apply sound judgment in assessing risk and safeguarding the firm, its clients, and assets by ensuring adherence to policies, regulatory requirements, and strong control standards; appropriately escalate and report issues

Qualifications

  • 8–12+ years of relevant experience in:
    • Derivatives / ISDA documentation negotiation
    • Transaction management, contract negotiation, or documentation within financial markets
  • Deep expertise in:
    • ISDA Master Agreements, CSAs, and collateral documentation
    • OTC derivatives and/or futures clearing documentation frameworks
  • Strong understanding of:
    • Financial markets products (rates, FX, credit, equity)
    • Industry documentation standards and regulatory environment
  • Experience working in:
    • A large financial institution, broker-dealer, asset manager, or similar environment
  • Proven ability to manage high volumes of complex documentation with strong attention to detail
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders and explain complex contractual terms clearly

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Advanced degree or relevant certifications preferred

Primary Location Full Time Salary Range:$130,880.00 - $196,320.00
