Draft substantive motions for summary judgment, pretrial motions, and appeals in New York State and Federal Courts. Analyze complex legal issues and develop persuasive arguments while working exclusively in a motions and legal writing department. The role generally excludes courtroom appearances, client reporting, depositions, caseload management, and routine conferences, though occasional oral arguments may be handled.
Legal Writer – Motions / Summary Judgements (Insurance Defense) – New York City – Hybrid Remote
Founded in the 1980’s, we are a mid-sized construction litigation law firm with offices in New York and Connecticut. We represent developers, owners, contractors, and municipalities in areas of construction accident cases, insurance coverage, general liability, amongst others.

Job duties:
Work hybrid remote.
Work in our motions / writing department.
· Draft substantive motions for summary judgment and appeals.
· Craft and execute high-impact motions from dispositive motions for summary judgment to pretrial motions and appeals in New York State and Federal Courts
· Analyze complex legal issues and persuasive argumentation
· Focus exclusively on the craft of legal writing without the demands of courtroom appearances and client reporting (won’t handle a caseload, won’t conduct depositions, won’t attend routine court appearances (like status conferences or discovery conferences).
· May also handle some of the oral argument of motions and appeals that they write
Required:
· Recent experience as a writer handling motions for summary judgment and/or appeals
You should know some of the following:
