About the Role:

We are seeking a deeply thoughtful, hardworking, emotionally intelligent, organized, and pragmatic attorney who is excited to serve as Cityblock’s healthcare regulatory and compliance advisor.  This role will be joining Cityblock’s legal team at a critical point in the company’s growth trajectory and will report-in to the General Counsel.  This role will: 

• Serve as an internal expert on all relevant federal and state healthcare regulations that impact a risk-bearing, multi-state physician group business, including accountability for ensuring adherence to all such rules.
• Drive design of strategic and operational initiatives to satisfy regulatory concerns and comply with related requirements.
• Serve as a critical thought partner with the leadership team by translating complex legal topics into relevant, insightful explanations that inform strategic and operational decisions.
• Represent Cityblock externally with health plans and federal and state regulatory bodies. 
• Work closely with our Director of Compliance on the further development of Cityblock’s Compliance, Audit, and Risk Programs and provide guidance and oversight for all compliance-related activities across the organization.
• Establish excellent rapport and working relationships with business managers in order to encourage and continue the proactive use of in-house legal counsel relating to healthcare regulatory and compliance needs.

Requirements for the Role:

• You have a JD degree (required) 
• 5+ years of work experience
• Radical candor and comfortability working within an often ambiguous, high growth environment
• Exceptional management and communication skills that are conducive to an environment where issues are identified and resolved
• Mission driven to serve in an organization dedicated to bringing novel care delivery models to underserved populations

How We Define Success:

• You’ll establish strong collaboration channels and relationships across the executive suite, including with our GMs, medical leadership, and practice managers, through effective and diplomatic communications. 
• You’ll support our business partners in answering various healthcare regulatory and compliance questions that arise during day-to-day member facing work, and particularly when opening new markets.
• You’ll develop a strong partnership with our Director of Compliance on all compliance related issues. 
• You’ll manage outside counsel successfully.
