We are looking for an exceptional Senior Legal Counsel who will advise on regulatory and legal matters for the venture. The ideal candidate is enthusiastic, thoughtful, and knowledgeable about pharmaceutical regulations and legal considerations with a go-getter, get things done personality and ideally has a strong interest in tech and startups.

What You Will Do:

  • Provides strategic legal advice and risk assessment to the venture teams and reviews promotional material, videos, branded and unbranded content to ensure compliance with the Federal Food, Drug & Cosmetic Act and related laws and regulations
  • Participates in the development of contractual and business strategies
  • Demonstrates creative problem solving, working with the venture team to accelerate timelines and understand options to remain in compliance
  • Strategic and analytical mindset
  • Candidate must take a structured approach to evaluating potential opportunities and develop well thought-out strategies
  • Proactive, strategic, implementation-focused, and ready to roll up sleeves and make an impact right away
  • Works in a cooperative manner with colleagues and customers.
  • Provides legal guidance on various matters, including Affordable Care Act, Anti-Kickback Statutes, False Claims Acts, antitrust, Robinson-Patman Act, rebating strategies, etc.
  • Supports the negotiation and execution of various agreements, including vendors’ agreements
  • Participates in the review of policies and SOPs as required
  • Participates in the assessment and resolution of operational issues as needed
  • Completes special projects as assigned
  • Remains current on laws, rulings, guidance, regulations and government programs requirements affecting business within identified areas of responsibility and helps implement appropriate actions
  • Identifies and helps elaborate plans to mitigate areas of legal risk affecting the business.
  • Works effectively under deadlines

Who You Are:

  • Must have JD degree and be a member in good standing with the US bar
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience working in a corporate legal environment, a major law firm and/or a startup in a legal capacity
  • Experience in the areas of marketing law and healthcare compliance required, direct pharmaceutical industry experience is strongly recommended
  • Biotech, healthcare or other pharmaceutical start-up experience highly preferred.
  • Sound business and legal judgment, with ability to balance business objectives and risk, solving legal problems in a high-output, fast moving environment
  • Excellent drafting and legal technical skills
  • Exceptional attention-to-detail and excellent organizational skills
  • Ability to prioritize duties and manage multiple matters from start to finish with minimal supervision
  • Strong interpersonal, written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to work on complex problems with demonstrated creativity and problem solving skills
  • Ability to maintain the highest degree of confidentiality and integrity
  • Ability to respond effectively to sensitive inquiries or complaints
  • Ability to adapt to changes and thrive in an entrepreneurial environment
  • Ability to coordinate, contribute to, and work within a cross-functional team
