As Senior Regulatory Counsel, you will be central to building out core legal and compliance capabilities for a high growth FinTech Startup.

In this role, you will work directly with the General Counsel and Chief Compliance Officer to design, build and lead the company’s Legal Department. 

How You’ll Make An Impact:

  • Supporting business partners and compliance risk managers by providing legal advice on regulatory and supervisory matters including product development and ongoing business activities
  • Designing and implementing a regulatory change management process to ensure the company is aware of and complies with applicable legal and regulatory requirements in the payment sector on a wide range of issues including data security, protection and privacy, NACHA rules, and anti-money laundering
  • Assisting with the development of strategy for and management of relationships with U.S. regulators 
  • Developing and maintaining the policies, procedures and other documentation to support the above

What We’d Love To See:

  • JD and admitted to practice in the United States
  • 6 to 8 years’ experience, preferably in both top law firm and in house environments 
  • Experience in banking, or financial services sector – preferably with direct exposure to the payments industry
  • Ability to provide practical, strategic, and business-oriented legal advice 
  • Ability to represent Melio before relevant regulatory authorities
  • Ability to build strong working relationships with internal clients at all levels and work within cross-functional teams to develop solutions to complex legal and business issues
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple time-sensitive tasks
  • Detail orientation combined with strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively
