Litigation Attorney (Contract)

KLDiscovery, one of the largest national eDiscovery providers, is seeking experienced civil and state litigators to support upcoming employment and labor litigation matters. This assignment offers a unique opportunity to contribute to multiple ongoing cases, collaborate with other attorneys, and further develop expertise in employment and labor litigation.  

This role is a contract-based position and offers competitive hourly compensation. The duration of the project is expected to be several months, with the possibility of extension based on case development and performance. 

This role is remote but requires occasional on-site work.  

Position Details

• Location: New York, NY (Remote with occasional on-site work) 

• Anticipated Start Date: April 2026     

• Anticipated Duration:  1 Year  

• Pay rate: $48-$59 per hour (based on experience) 

Responsibilities 

• Support Employment & Labor attorneys with ongoing matters. 

• Assist with civil and state litigation tasks (e.g., interrogatories, deficiency letters, discovery requests). 

• Report to the office as needed. 

• Take ownership of cases as experience grows. 

• Potentially make court appearances as experience grows.  

Qualifications  

• Required: active New York State attorney’s license, in good standing. 

• Required: 3-5 years of civil and/or state litigation experience. 

• Required: strong knowledge of civil and state litigation procedures.  

• Preferred: experience in a government or public sector practice 

• Preferred: background in labor and employment law 

• Preferred: experience with discovery requests and document review 

• Strong collaboration skills and be comfortable working independently 

• Must be a motivated self-starter 

• Strong attention to detail, ability to prioritize tasks 

• Critical thinking skills and ability to retain complex work direction 

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills 

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suites 

• Ability to work on-site in New York City as needed
