Role Overview

The M&A Advisory Analyst will be a critical part of the firm’s M&A Advisory team, reporting directly to the Head of M&A Advisory. Our M&A expertise has been developed over several years and is a growth area for the firm. Operating within an entrepreneurial and merit-based environment, this position offers an exceptional opportunity to gain institutional deal-execution experience while working closely with senior leadership. The successful candidate will play a critical role in sourcing and executing comprehensive M&A mandates, including buy-side and sell-side transactions, strategic reviews, valuation assessments, and fairness opinions.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Financial Analysis: Deliver institutional-grade financial analysis, valuation work, and advanced pro forma financial modeling.
  • Presentation Materials: Research, draft, and structure client-ready marketing materials, including comprehensive pitchbooks and competitive RFP responses.
  • Strategic Research: Conduct tailored market screens to identify bolt-on acquisition targets and perform roll-up consolidation studies for clients.
  • Transaction Documentation: Draft engagement letters, client teasers, and Confidential Information Memoranda (CIMs).
  • Due Diligence & Execution: Execute financial and transactional due diligence, manage buyer/seller communication, and support senior professionals in reviewing NDAs, LOIs, and definitive purchase agreements.
  • Industry Insights: Prepare high-level deliverables analyzing macroeconomic and M&A industry trends for executive speaking engagements and firm business planning.

Required Qualifications

  • Core Competencies: Strong foundational knowledge of corporate finance principles, quantitative analysis, and professional writing skills.
  • Project Management: Proven ability to meet strict deadlines while managing multiple complex assignments simultaneously.
  • Professional Attributes: Demonstrated history of academic and professional achievement, characterized by strong critical thinking and ethical standards.
  • Technical Proficiency: Mastery of the Microsoft Office Suite.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience: 1–2 years of prior experience as a financial analyst; completion of a formal analyst training program is highly advantageous.
  • Licensing: Active FINRA Securities Industry Essentials (SIE), Series 79, and Series 63 licenses, or the ability to successfully obtain them within 3 months of hire.
  • Databases: Practical proficiency utilizing PitchBook and S&P Capital IQ platforms.

Additional Details/Benefits

  • Location: New York, NY (Hybrid structure 3 day in office/2 remote WFH).
  • Travel:  20% – 30%.
  • Compensation: $80,000 – $90,000 base salary, eligible for a performance-based discretionary bonus
  • Benefits: Company-paid $300,000 life insurance policy, alongside comprehensive health and retirement packages.
