Job Responsibilities:

Starting Wage: $46.81 per hour and $47.66 per hour after probation

Immediate, Open Position

Presstran Industries is a supplier to the automotive industry. Presstran’s lines of automotive stampings and welding assemblies are used in front motor compartments, underbody structures, truck frame components and front and rear suspensions.

Using written/verbal instructions the Tool & Die Maker is responsible for the construction/repair/preventative maintenance of machine shop tools, gauges, fixtures, jigs and dies for the division.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

 

1. Current Tool & Die Maker's certificate of qualification.

2. Equivalent to completion of specialized courses normally taught at community or specialized colleges consisting of more than 2 academic years.

3. Experience in automotive heavy stamping environment an asset.

4. Skill gained by experience working at Presstran.

5. Own tools required.

6. Experience with jig and fixture building an asset.

 

DUTIES:

 

1. Constructs/repairs/maintains tools/gauges/fixtures/jigs and dies

2. Locates/determines reasons for die failure

3. Ensures that data entered into e-Maintenance system is correct and accurate with the right amount of time and with enough detailed information to follow up and find the root cause of the technical problems (Hours Paid Vs Hours entered)

4. Equipment is maintained in a safe & efficient manner.

5. Assists other trades/operators as required.

6. Participates in the training of tool & die apprentices as required.

7. Completes and Records information and maintains toolroom records either manually or on computer.

8. Co-ordinates die repair and preventative maintenance scheduling in order to meet job deadlines and requesting overtime authorization when required.

9. Basic computer software use

10. Comes to work each day, as scheduled.

11. Approaches each day and each challenge by demonstrating a positive attitude and sets the example for HWWT

12. Conducts themselves in a professional manner (modelling HWWT) when receiving or giving feedback/information, whether it is positive or constructive.

13. Other duties as required.  Willingly supports his/her team by accepting other duties, responsibilities and challenges.
